I unfortunately could not attend the meeting, but I also sent an email today to City Planning (Mr. Charlebois) in support of this project proceeding.

Looks like that's a tall as she's going then, judging by the outriggers at the roof level.

I got a reply email from Andy Collin regarding the Eastlake tower proposal:

"Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on the application. We are collecting all responses and will be presenting them to City Council when a decision needs to be made. There will likely be future engagement opportunities regarding this application, so keep an eye on the Engage Page. You are correct in saying that there have been more communications opposing the application than for it, so it is valuable for City Councillors to hear that there are residents in support of this.

Regards, Andy"

So....PLEASE take the time to send an email. You never know, it just may make a difference in how some councilors view the development.

was just thinking of the hundreds of thousands spent by the city planning north downtown a decade ago... not an extra tree has sprouted, no housing, not a cafe to employ even one soul with their help.

I really hope they find a new city councillor. I met with Cynthia a few years ago and she kept acting like our downtown was perfectly fine. Her bias is coming from Nutana - I could totally see her stopping the condo project there based on her current comments and being more of a Nutana councillor than a downtown councillor. One day maybe we’ll get a better councillor more focused on the Master Plans of Downtown and North Downtown.

This ugly beast that welcomes you to downtown from college bridge is getting new balconies! This is a huge improvement for folks visiting downtown. I personally thought it was the ugliest building downtown. Kudo’s to Boardwalk for renovating the exteriors of their downtown buildings! Hopefully Carlton tower is next - would look incredible if it also get glass balconies like it’s sister building The View next door.

Almost certainly a structural/safety issue, but the work will have aesthetic benefits.

The beige towers in the background are as bad or worse. I can't decide beige stucco or the white painted block on this one. Taller like the beige stucco towers should always be viewed at a higher standard. Also, The glass balconies on one of the beige stucco tower really doesn't improve the overall look vs the other tower.
