Ashcroft is the driest place in Canada south of 60. Amazing when you think about how the west coast of Vancouver Island is the wettest!

Yeah, the hourly updates are just what the temperature is at the exact moment they are taken. Of course the temperature fluctuates between those observations. The daily highs and lows are posted after the day is over.

Out of curiosity, I checked Las Vegas weather, it's 47°C (117°f), and the humidity is 4%.

That’s crazy dry… and that is only around 1 degree F away from their all time record high!

A fine day for Nanny's funeral. This was our last such gathering on the meadow for sure. 13 kids (three Scottish, one Newfoundlander, and nine Canadians based on citizenship at birth, they love to tease), dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mostly atheist former English Protestants and Irish Catholics sending off a Presbyterian war bride from Scotland at an Anglican Church lol

SSH, god bless! Beautiful ceremony.

Today we had part 2 of Beryl's remnants... the cloud cover.
Overcast all day and kind of drizzly. 21C (humidex of 28) was the high.

Low of 19C this morning. Not much variation because of the clouds.

The warmspot was Warfield, BC at 37.2C

Warmest low was Osoyoos, BC at 23.8C

Sunny, warm, dry. The heat has eased and wherever I went today there was a nice cool breeze.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 23 C (26 C w/Humidex), the low was 16 C.

Much cooler day with an onshore flow. Currently cloudy, some light fog, and 15 degrees. Highs today probably around this temperature, though if the sun cracks through the clouds later it may warm up a bit more.

Heat returns tomorrow, though Sunday is looking like there's a chance of an onshore flow developing once again. Beyond Sunday though, temperatures looking to be in the mid to high 20s with high humidity.

Condolences SHH.

Your comments regarding "the last gathering on the meadow" strike home. When a matriarch (mother, grandmother) dies, there is truly a familial sea change. When my own mother died in 1999, her funeral was the last time my three siblings and myself were all in the same place at the same time. It is almost like the death of the family.

19C and light rain currently in Moncton at 9AM, going up to 28C this afternoon.

As the remnants of Beryl push off, the heat and humidity will return. We are expecting three consecutive days of 31C and high humidity leading to humidex readings of near 40C. This is a nuisance for just a few days. I can't imagine how the Yanks put up with this all summer.........

A few years back I experienced 2% with temps in the 90s in LV. The locals said to make sure you drink lots of water as at such low humidity the sweat evaporates from your skin before you realize you’re sweating. It was a weird sensation for me, being from the maritimes, being so hot but not sweating. Yes, I guzzled the water as much as possible.

Much cooler 26 today. Was some storm action through last night but not very much. Still very dry here. Active fires are now at just over 100. 1/3 under control. Calling for rain all weekend but up to 30 again next week.

Wildfires continuing to cause havoc in Labrador. Labrador city was just issued an evacuation order, only about a week after residents of Churchill Falls were allowed back into their town.

26 today and it feels disappointingly cool compared to the last several days (I LOVE highs in the 30s and warm nights). It will be in the mid-20s with some scattered showers over the weekend and then next Tuesday another run of 30+ highs starts for at least a week straight. Several models are showing Sunday, July 21 with highs between 35 and 38 so it will be interesting to see where that goes.

It's been a pleasure watching these little ones get introduced to the Pacific Ocean.

27C with a humidex of 34 and mainly cloudy. We did however get some sunny breaks.

Low of 20C this morning.

The warmspot was Lytton, BC at 38.6C

Warmest low was Victoria Beach, MB at 22.6C. That temperature is likely to fall in the next hour or so.

I am surprised Winnipeg is under a "heat warning" for low between 17-20.

Winnipeg, MB
2 WEATHER ALERTS
HEAT WARNING
3:29 PM CDT Friday 12 July 2024

Quote:
Overnight temperatures will be in the 17-20 degree celsius range before cooler air makes its way into the province Saturday.
Montreal would need to under a heat warning the whole months of July and August then. We've been above 18C since July 2nd. That is 10 straight lows and counting.
