Was just reading above the Aquilini/MST project at East Broadway and came across the Willingdon Lands project. There's been a few news stories but it seems like they are having informational meetings so this might go ahead soon as well.

They bought the land for $57.9 million from the province in 2014.

There are some pretty tall (50+ storey) towers blocked in to the east of the proposal, will be interesting to see what comes of those. Looks like they're on the Revs site and the largely undeveloped industrial lot.

Drove by the EA campus expansion and site clearing is at full swing. I guess they are finally having them built, but I still think the lack of an overhead walkway across Sanderson is a HUGE miss.

I have never realized that there is such a large building and open grass in the middle of what they call Willingdon Lands. I wonder what that building is? I hope no housing gets built here.

I don't they'll have enough foot traffic to warrant it. The new campus will probably have most of the required services for most people to not require them to go back and forth.

EA has a lot of centralised departments in certain parts of the campus that work closely with various game teams. There is a lot of running around between meeting rooms in various buildings, my friends in there are telling me. Also, it would help to promote "one campus" feeling, it being all connected.

Better yet, them having an underground access between both parkades would be huge, as on-campus parking has always been in high demand during peak production phases, I understand.

They currently have around 2200 spaces and will add 900 with one level of underground and two above ground parking .

Congratulations Burnaby, for getting yet another public amenity and recreational centre. High density communities sure have their perks.

$250 million community centre with pool planned for Lougheed Town Centre (RENDERINGS)

So Edmonds cost 40 million at 95,000 square feet. Cameron will 250 million for 200,000 square feet. Roughly 3 times more per square foot. Good thing we kept that inflation in 2% range since 2013...Right? Right?

Well PoCo's new 200,000 square feet facility (three ice rinks) cost $132 million. 55,000 sq feet YMCA in Coquitlam is $77 million

I'm just surprised Burnaby isn't still hoarding their amenity monies.

Looks like those 2 indoor tennis courts are gone. At least they can put some outdoor tennis courts . Looks like there are plenty of outdoor space . They are badly needed for that corner of Burnaby .

Well, at least Burnaby has the financial capability to provide for its residents, unlike its bankrupt neighbour to the west.

Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh unveil "Willingdon Lands" Burnaby urban village

https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/will...-lands-burnaby

This is great! Another step to link the two town centres of Burnaby (Metrotown and Brentwood), by filling up the middle area along Willingdon. Perhaps a light railway transit system or even a skytrain extension can serve this corridor in the future.

More Metrotown madness....

More proposals for Metrotown by Belford.
Some of them had been proposed earlier back in 2017 but they were slowed/stalled by the slowdown in the Housing market and the pandemic.
Looks like they've come back to life.
A couple of them we talked about not that long ago a little while back (The Silver Ave. one which was tagged as 'Sun Towers 3' - perhaps they're not going with that labelling anymore - and the Telford rental, which I did speculate would be a rental because I thought it might end up being the de facto Sun Towers 4, and you can't be labelling a market tower "4" anything in BC and hope to get any sales. Looks like I was half-right. The M Spa Residences proposal (The McKay and Cassie Avenues Tower) has also been previously mentioned sometime far back):-

Quote:
"Belford Properties has submitted a series of revised, phased rezoning applications for four sites that they own in the Metrotown area of Burnaby.

........

Overall, the proposal envisions 1,255 residential units (867 condos & 388 rentals) in five towers, located on four separate sites.

The sites in question are:

6630 Telford Avenue (Site A)
6366 Cassie Avenue & 6433 McKay Avenue (Site B)
6444 Silver Avenue (Site C)
4355 Maywood Street (Site D)
"

6630 Telford Avenue
31-storey market & non-market rental tower & a 15-storey market rental tower

6433 McKay Avenue and 6366 Cassie Avenue
a 39-storey condo tower

6444 Silver Avenue
a 41-storey condo tower

4355 Maywood Street
a 32-storey condo tower

Another one without commercial spaces! That's a huge mistake. This will turn this area of Metrotown into a boring bedroom community. Can't be a proper downtown when you don't provide the kind of convenience found in most city centre streets.
