It only really started in summer of 2011, I think people generally include the pre-construction phase of building demo and utility relocation...but I have no idea when they started that.

It's been a royal pain dealing with the construction, but the road resurfacing by Yonge and Eglinton is finally happening. It'll be nice when all the streets are back to normal, whenever that happens. (Sometime next year I assume, once the snow is gone and all)

I want to say this will be done in a year, but I don't really care anymore. It's been getting close to completed for a while now.

And Ford had the audacity to come to Ottawa and announce he wouldn't give us a cent for Stage 3 until Stage 1 is "fixed" without providing any sort of target, yet trusts Metrolinx with what, $30 Billion, when they botched Crosstown.

Great map, though there are some notable omissions like Vancouver's Broadway extension and the Hurontario LRT (both u/c). Also a shame it doesn't include commuter rail.

Might as well also share this map, which has all rail lines (of all types, by all operators) across the country: https://map.railfans.ca/#9.68/49.3104/-123.1313. Though, in this case the coverage of mass transit systems is spotty & inconsistent (eg. shows the Skytrain and OC Transpo, but not the Toronto Subway or Montreal Metro). Also doesn't include proposed or u/c projects.

I took these a few hours ago. The main intersection of the Crosstown, where the main line of the TTC subway meets with the new rail line, is now re-opened after many years.

Final repaving is ongoing along this section of Eglinton, near the station and in a complex area where utilities and HVAC systems have been installed throughout the road, delaying this process. (from my understanding)

The new station entrance west of Yonge and Eglinton is looking nice and tidy nowadays.

Eglinton is gonna blow up with a lot of tall towers. Already now it has so many tall towers, but it will be more, soon. Especially around Yonge and Eglinton, then going east for sure.

Transport Politic Transit Explorer is generally pretty thorough for Americas and has some data for much of the rest of the world.

Detroit wants to buy the old Scarborough line trains. The cars are still in good shape.

Wasn't Toronto claiming they were unsalvageable? Wonder if Detroit tried Vancouver first.

Individually, yes.

They're still useful for parts. If you take 12 TTC cars you could probably get 9 good ones out of them. Something like that wasn't going to be helpful for the SRT which was already struggling for capacity when fully operational. For Detroit, which already has 12 cars in worse shape than TTCs, they'll pull parts from their current vehicles to keep these running for a while.

Detroit is only expecting a 7 year lifespan from this purchase. Also, the Detroit people mover ridership is about 4k per day vs the SRTs 12k which makes operational quirks easier to manage.

I'm surprised to see that the Y-shaped columns are still being used in light of their failings on the SE Valley Line. Is it known if any changes have been made to the design based on recent experience?
