The remnants of Beryl arrive tonight. Could receive up to 50 mm of rain over the next two days.

Currently 21°C at 6:30 am. Going to a high of 37°C today. This will be a brutal one. Gotta stay home until my kitchen appliances are fixed, after which point I'm heading to the mall.

Cloudy and a cooler 23, but a more humid day than the last 2, with a humidex of 31 and dew point of 21 at 11am. Highs near 25 this afternoon.

Yesterday was overcast and muggy, high of 27.3 with a humidex of 36 and low of 22. We're still getting a slight cooling effect from the lake, it was over 30 in Chatham last evening for my ball game.

Remnants of the hurricane are here, it was rainy early this morning, we've had an inch already and may get a few thunderstorms this afternoon.

I always find it interesting, of course this forum (especially the Canadian section) is eastern heavy, and that does make sense to an extant because of population, but none the less, when Quebec and Ontario were having heat comments were coming in from everywhere (Newfoundland, New Brunswick, etc…) about how hot that was and how it must feel. But when BC hits 42.5 real temperature (third day in a row at 40+) not a single comment (outside of Nikko of course, who is an honest weather loving jockey).

Not complaining, but curios to know why.

Is it because BC is so far away that it doesn’t register anymore than anywhere in the US?

Is it because such temps from the BC interior in summer have become somewhat normalized?

Is it because BC forum members aren’t as active here (except for negative commentary, a thorn in my side)?

Edmonton is potentially surpassing its all time high today I believe. the EC forecast now calls for a high of 37? I think 36 is the all time high? may be wrong.

Yeah, when I was a child 40+ felt like it was once every 2 or 3 years, now it’s every year multiple times.

I’m watching Calgary too, forecasted high is 35 and their record is just above 36 if memory serves me right. Will be an interesting day to watch!

Also over the last few days I’ve seen lots of smoke over Saskatoon and Regina, where is that originating from??

Smoke is from Northern AB/NWT/BC. Lots of fires. It's been super dry up there for the most part

It was around 33c in my next of the woods yesterday (East Vancouver), and 31c down by the water. The temperature is fine, it's just the lack of AC that makes things a little more uncomfortable. Our apartment gets hot.

Ah, I see. Was thinking there or drifting north from the States. There are still many zombie fires from last year burning in North Eastern BC. I am surprised though that they are causing such poor visibility as far south and east as Regina while Fort St. John is clear.

I really forgot just how hot Kelowna summers can be. Wikipedia averages seem deceptive.

Of the past 10 julys, only 3 of them have had average highs below 30c. and None have had average highs below 27c.

This july so far has an average high of 31.5c. Yesterday we hit 39.3c at the airport which means it was 40c in town

It is HOT out, peaked earlier today at 38.4 with about 17% humidity (unofficially my truck did break the 40c mark), good thing the lake is nice and cool.

Cool down to lower 30s starting tomorrow for the next week.

Holy rain... I believe we might have had a top 3 or maybe even wettest day ever. EC is saying 76mm for Dorval as of 9PM. Ogimet is showing 111mm from Beryl's remnants.

Made it up to 26C with a humidex of 34 shortly before noon. Hard to believe but the rain only started at noon. We remained over 20C even during the tropical rain. We finally dipped below 20C tonight.

Low of 22C (humidex of 26) this morning.

The warmspot was Warfield, BC at 40.5C

Warmest low was Lytton, BC at 23.7C.

It got to 35.6°C in Edmonton today, which is hotter than what we got in 2021 during that massive heatwave. I didn't go to the mall. Fridge didn't get repaired as that is planned for tomorrow.

Just checked, Edmonton officially hit 36.2! (with a low of 20.9!) I thought Edmonton hit around 38 during the great 2021 heat wave?

So today was another scorcher.

And... the most noteworthy one today is Kelowna: 40.3!

Ashcroft just strung four days in a row topping 40. Always an amazing feat for a Canadian location.

Castlegar, Kamloops and Penticton were all close with rounded 40 degree highs (Castlegar 39.9, Kamloops 39.8, Penticton 39.5)

So during this pretty noteworthy heat wave 7 locations managed to hit 40+
