Does anyone remember the name of the Mobile seafood restaurant that's supposed to be coming to the Alley? I think it starts with a W.

I love the sound of this alley project , I have to check it out when will it be complete ?

I was browsing the stimulus watch website and out of the big four ,Montgomery was the only city that wasn`t on the list for stimulus funding do you guys know why ? http://www.stimuluswatch.org/project/by_state/AL&per_page=200

Gosh, I didn't see Montgomery anywhere on that list.

I find it tragicomic that Montgomery didn't get a whole lot of help from a man who's favorite philosopher was Jesus, nor can they get help from "the most liberal member of the Senate" now that he's in charge.

As I remember, the federal government wasn't much liked in those parts. So Montgomery, this is not a time for tears, this is a time to REJOICE! The liberal tax-and-spenders have chosen to keep your pride intact by withholding their tainted municipal welfare! You didn't need them anyway, you big, strong city, you.

Hmmmm I see you are realy touched by the fact Momntgomery wasn`t on the list my friend it will nbe ok believe me. All of the big four deserve to have a piece of that cake and in my opionion Montgomery needs it more than Huntsville.

Oh, btw, that list was a 'blue sky' list dreamed up by some mayors.... it may or may not have absolutely anything to do with actual money from the 'stimulus' package.

Hey folks! My computer was dead for the last few days, but anyway...

The mayors lists were done to show the government what projects they could use the stimulus money for, but each state is going to get certain amounts from the Feds regardless of the amount of projects in each state. The states will then distribute the money. So the real battle will be between the state and the local municipalities.

That's why that early mayors list doesn't hold too much weight because the state will likely use or request a different list to go by; which is why Montgomery says it waited to submit its list to the state.

I was reading the Press Register yesterday and it had an article about Mardi Gra societies in Montgomery. They were saying Montgomery was introduced to Mardi Gra by a Mobilian around 1855 I believe. That article was a suprise to me good to know that our region isn`t the alone in celebrating Mardi Gra.

are any of you part of/attended a Mardi Gra ball in Montgomery ?

I did, years ago, back in high school. Cotillion balls were held around this time, usually put on by 'The Mystic Order of...' or some such. usually very private affairs though, no parades or anything.

Open house planned for riverboat

There will be an open house to see the Harriott II, Montgomery's new riverboat, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

There will be popcorn and soft drinks along with brochures with information about the riverboat.

The riverboat is docked at the Riverwalk Amphitheater floating docks and has a capacity of 350 to 400 people.

The riverboat can be booked for public use, and there will be several weekly public dinner cruises as well.

The Harriott II's maiden voyage will be a Blues Cruise, with boarding starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets are $15 and are available at www.etix.com or by calling 241-2100.

My wife and I were driving down East Chase Parkway and saw a large structure that looked like a movie theater between the Bruno's shopping center and Costco. It was on the Wynnlakes side of the road. I've heard that the movie theater was going next to Home Depot, not where I saw it. Does anyone have any info?

Just guessing, theaters usually have much higher parking ratios and this doesn't look that out of line. The floor poured inside was flat and I think they'd have done some contouring in concrete. There's also few exits other than the front which theaters usually have many.

I'm wondering if Academy Sports is moving in.
