Beautiful morning for a bike ride. And say what you want about humidity but there is something to be said about being able to bike in shorts and a t-shirt at 5:30 in the morning.

Overcast, some periods of rain or drizzle.

They're filming a movie on my street. I'm sure it's a Dallas remake, or a coming of age story with horny upper class youth lol

First time we have felt real heat here in the Bow Valley this year. Pretty sure we beat the 2012 record high of 29.5C as it is still 28C.

I know your having fun... but oh god, let's not start that classic SSP debate

Ashcroft is definitely the one town in Canada that looks the part as well on these hot days.

My pics from last year (it was 39 at the time I took these pics as well, and I can tell you under the sun in a place with limited shade it's HOT!)

Those are hot looking photos. You can feel the heat, and yes, just fun, although not that many people do live there. It was around 29° in Vancouver today, I did some walking in it, and with the humidex it felt several degrees higher. The humidity was not even that high (perhaps 36%), but twice as high as Ashcroft.

I honestly hope it never does grow much beyond its current size. The last thing I want is for the Thompson Valley to become all subdivisions and orchards, completely losing its natural desert setting. I find desert towns lose all their unique desert charm once they get bigger and the desert is gone and everyone is growing trees and lawns!

I would love to have seen the Okanagan 100 years ago, before it became all developed and farmland.

Also, where about do you live in Vancouver? If you are off the peninsula / even a couple kilometers away from the water your experienced temps are probably closer to those of the suburbs / valley (today was 32 / 33) than the airport or harbour (they were 27 / 29 today)

I live in East Mt. Pleasant, just far enough inland to be closer to Burnaby's temperature than that of the West End. My thermometer today was similar to what I posted above, around 30. I think the ultimate desert to urbanity examples are Las Vegas, and of course Dubai, which I guess we can consider unsustainable, given that the population lives in an artificial climate year-round, and could not readily survive in the real one.

Finally. For the first time this year I actually went in past my knees. Still though, it was only 22 today. So although I took a full dip in, I didn't actually swim. Saturday was sunny and warmer, but breezy all day. Made swimming intolerable. Annoying when you can't even use a beach umbrella out of fear of it blowing away and striking someone.

Of course, tomorrow will actually be hot, just in time for when I will no longer be there, meaning I miss out of the prime beach and swimming weather again.

The beach on Saturday is only a couple kms north of our regular beach. It had a yellow film from the shore to 15 feet out. It actually stuck on my shins and dried up when I came out. Sunday at our regular spot, no such issue. So close yet two different types of experiences.

You've heard of a crimson tide on the Gulf coast, for which the U of Alabama is named? What is this, a yellow tide? Maybe a maize tide? The U of Michigan's nick name is the maize 'n blue. Instead of the Wolverines, maybe they could have been the maize tide. They actually just beat the Crimson Tide of Alabama in the semis en route to the national championship in football.

Hot, at least for Vancouver. Not a cloud and not much humidity. Things are drying out.
My only outing today was a one block walk to the supermarket.

Sunday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 29 C (32 C w/Humidex), the low was 15 C.

Lytton was 39.9 yesterday, by Ashcroft was 40.3 making it the new high for Canada this year and the first 40+ reading.

The fog is burning away so early. It's going to be a hot one I expect.

22C in Moncton at 9 AM and sunny, going up to 30C this afternoon (humidex 39).

Very muggy out. Feels tropical.

Mix of sun and cloud and 22 (humidex 29, dew point 20) at 10am. Highs today in the high 20s. Winds relatively calm though so there's the risk of a seabreeze later today when temperatures warm up.
