LOL... that anagram has an extra 'e' for some reason.

Paradise (soon to be) lost?
Obviously my handle was inspired by one of the most beautiful places on earth (lucky enough to have enjoyed 3 visits to the Maldives)... which of course is under dire threat from rising sea levels (erosion/salt water flooding is wiping out residents' drinking water already). A massive coral bleaching event 5 years ago added to the country's woes. Half of the country's budget now goes to climate change mitigation.

Ideas like floating cities may be of interest to this forum, but the so-called fake news of climate change is sadly playing out right now in this unmatched paradise.

30 Scollard | 230.89m | 61s | Constantine Enterprises | CAL l pre-construction

Good and bad news: instead of just facade retention, most of the (former) Bank of Canada building will be retained/restored. Bad news is … well… what’s now approved on top.

It appears that construction will be resumed next month on Concord Sky (formerly Cresford), 299 m, 84 storeys.

Is there a thread for CIBC Square? I didn’t find anything in a search. I’d like to know what the tower north of the rail tracks is going to look like.

^^^ It's going to look basically the same as Phase I just turned 90 degrees. The podium's more complex though. Here's a link to the renderings:

Thanks! This is a great project. It seems odd there isn’t more about it here on SSP forums.

Here is my latest render, showing how downtown will look in about 5 or 6 years time. I have included as many proposals as I could, especially all of the bigger ones:

At 298 metres tall and almost 90 metres wide, it really will stand out...

Quayside - winning team

The team consisting of Dream Unlimited Corp. and Great Gulf working together with lead architects Adjaye Associates, Alison Brooks Architects and Henning Larsen, has been named by Waterfront Toronto as the winning proponent to redevelop Quayside … replacing the controversial/abandoned plans from Sidewalk Labs.

Highlights include a 2 acre forested green space, a landmark multi-use arts and cultural centre, 5 towers and a massive mass timber mid-rise. More than 800 affordable housing units are included in the proposed 4300 residential units.

Some eye candy from the winning presentation.

Union centre

Union Centre, the building looks rather thick, out of proportion. Like the rest, why not make it thinner and taller? 400M perhaps? I think it will look good since it’s close to CN tower.

Quayside looks amazing. The greenery is always over-represented in renderings, but man, that green terra cotta base of the taller building in Block 1 is... WOW!!!

Tech companies are demanding large, uninterrupted floor plates these days. Union Centre is designed with this target market in mind, hence the thickness of the tower.

Construction equipment seems to be arriving on the former Cresford, now Concord Sky site. It looks as if things are starting up again on that project.
