I am so looking forward to having all this wrapped and completed. As a major project right downtown, the impact is high of its presence is high. Having it all completed will be great.

Pic by me today.

They've removed the tarp from the long skylight -
so installation must be imminent.

Pics by me today:

Michael Kors awning has been painted dark (from white), ditto for mullions.
Seems like a second rate reno.

Mall entrance coming along.

TD Tower lobby marble being installed.
Darker than I expected, but should blend with the antique brass trim.
The elevator doors will be extremely inset.

Image sent around by CF.
Looks like they are getting rid of the travertine and chandeliers,
and reverting back to brass fixtures.

It's been years since, but i still can't get over the Cadillac Fairview branding. They also plastered it all over Toronto's Eaton Centre and even built a giant sign on one of the towers. The CF is obnoxious. not to mention pointless.

Disagree somewhat. CF represents quality shopping malls in Canada, typically a cut-above most others where shoppers expect to find on-trend brands, flagships and up-to-date, well-maintained interiors and decor. Mall branding is nothing new, Westfield has done it for years.

Yeah, I can't believe brands have the gall to put their logo on their products. Like who wants a stupid checkmark on their shoes or a piece of fruit on their computer anyways???

I can see some users don't like the 'CF' branding on the malls.

I'd say the branding can be as simple as this:

[MALL NAME HERE] (big text)
Operated by Cadillac Fairview (In smaller text)

I mean, if you want to complain about obnoxious self-promotion, it's the giant T-R-U-M-P letters literally five minutes down the street that you ought to be concerned with.

The W Philadelphia just opened after six years of construction, so CF should still have a little time left to top that timeline going at the rate they are.

Was that also a gut and renovate project?

The W Toronto is in the base of an older tower at Hudson's Bay Centre and is largely an interior reno, plus new freestanding access elevator from the street and lobby.

This project should allow more flexibility to produce a better hotel.

I think it's more the acronym than the branding. To the masses, CF = Cystic Fibrosis.
At least Westfield is a name.
I think Simon Property Group footnotes their properties, which may have been a better approach.

It's been almost twenty months since CF sent out their ill advised, W Hotel plagiarized press release, and still no update. I don't work across the street, and haven't been paying much attention, but I'm now wondering what the status on the hotel is? Not sure if a deal fell through, or if the project is on hold, or if it is just moving at a snail's pace? Is work still happening? It does seem odd that in January 2020 Tom Knoepfel said, "We look forward to providing more details about this exciting project in the near future." What does he consider the near future?

Leftcoaster already said they aren't finishing the renovations until 2023+ so I don't think they're in any rush to announce a tenant.

The outside of the hotel looks the same, but work is going on inside.
