I'll pick up a copy of that as soon as I'm done with my weekend issue of the Antimasker Gazette

At some point in the past few years it converted to broad sheet like the free press rather than the traditional tabloid format it had. Talking physical paper not content. That I don’t know about.

I saw a Winnipeg Sun for the first time in about ten years last week. I actually laughed out loud and said to myself "what the fuck is this". It looks like the old National Enquirers that were at the checkout at the grocery store with about 10 pages in it. It could have been made in someone's garage it was so amateur looking. No one reading it could possibly take it seriously.

Heritage Winnipeg is acting outside its scope by defending a parking lot — this falls beyond its mandate.

Quote:
While Heritage Winnipeg supports the creation of much-needed housing and recognizes the importance of increasing housing supply, the organization remains concerned about the lack of transparency surrounding the project and the City’s approach to public consultation. Throughout the process, community stakeholders raised questions about parking, the future viability of the Granite Curling Club at 22 Granite Way (est. 1880, opened 1912), and inadequate planning.

At its July 30 meeting, the City’s Property and Development Committee unanimously dismissed all appeals, allowing the project to proceed. The Granite Curling Club continues to challenge the approval through a judicial review before the Manitoba Court of King’s Bench, arguing that the City failed to adequately address parking concerns and did not meaningfully consult affected stakeholders.

The approved development, led by the University of Winnipeg Community Renewal Corporation, will provide new affordable housing, with half of the units to remain at affordable rents for 99 years.

Heritage Winnipeg believes development projects must balance growth with openness as well as respect for existing community institutions. Public trust depends not only on the outcome of development decisions but also on a planning process that is transparent, collaborative, and responsive to the concerns of residents and stakeholders.

Heritage Winnipeg has lost its way. Publicly supporting a parking lot over affordable housing is indefensible. They spoke against the height variance at Market Lands despite it not being in the Exchange District. They even commented on the project at 470 Des Meurons, saying the city should listen to the neighbour’s wishes. A new building on an industrial site. No heritage anything.

some of the comments on the various different platforms that heritage winnipeg "blog" has been posted on have just generated people concluding that the curling club itself is being demolished. commenters going tribal and picking up their proverbial pitchforks and torches to pile-on in the comments without even reading the contents of the post. our own little disinformation ecosystem alive and well all related to an affordable housing project on a parking lot lol

Sun Newspapers were always glorified tabloid papers, but since Post media bought them out, they are not even fit to put into a bird cage.

I noticed that the Heritage Winnipeg Instagram post has 163 comments and she muted 158 of them. Leaving only those that agree with her.

When a post is cross-posted on Instagram and Facebook, the total comment count on Instagram includes comments from both platforms. In this case, 7 comments are on the Instagram post and the remaining 156 are from Facebook.
