I am envious of the towns on the eastern shores of Lake Huron for this reason, they get to enjoy sunsets on the lake. The Canadian shores of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie don't have that chance, with the exception of Long Point on Lake Erie, from where you appear to be able to see the sunset with endless water in front of you (even though you need to be looking at the lake at a specific angle as opposed as looking straight ahead, and you more than likely see the shores across the bay). But the place is also so remote that nobody gets to enjoy it.

You get amazing sunsets with endless water in front if you at Point Pelee National Park as well as on Pelee Island!

I highly recommend sunsets on Lake Superior anywhere between the Sault and Wawa. There are also a lot of great beaches along that part of the lake at certain points.

The sun sets over Lake Ontario during the winter. Also in the same vein as Point Pelee you can find nice little coves, peninsulas, whatever that provide nice summer sunsets, obviously not entirely over the lake but still nice

Have to agree about Lake Huron. Spectacular sunsets from Grand Bend to Tobermory. It helps that it's practically one continuous beach from Sauble to the South end.

Maybe it is just me being picky, but this could be any random lake or river. A sunset over a flat horizon consisting of only water is something we can only experience at a handful of locations in Canada despite having a huge landmass.

The east shore of Hudson Bay (extremely remote), the coast of BC above Vancouver island (very remote), the coast of Vancouver Island, the east shores of Lake Huron and Superior + few islands and peninsulas on Lake Erie, southwestern Nova Scotia, west coast of Newfoundland and perhaps a small stretch of the south shore of the St.Lawrence river between Matane and Cap Chat.

The US and Mexico have a much smoother Pacific Coast consisting of thousands kilometres of linear shores oriented east-west.

I'm sure it's been covered here, but Grand Beach just north of Winnipeg is awesome...

Anyone visiting town with a day to spare should head up to it, just a 45 minute drive north. Only hassle is it can get busy on some summer weekends.

About 5mins ago on Lake Huron. The lake is trying to reclaim my beach.

Are water levels way up on Huron also?

I'm pretty sure the sun sets over Lake Ontario to the southwest during the winter but I'm not entirely sure?

Impressive pictures of Lake Huron. I went to Sandbanks Provincial Park last weekend and the waves were also huge with some of them over 1,5 m high.
