Yeah I'm not seeing any of that much ballyhooed 'Hotel Inspired Gluckstein Design' here....

I have an outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub at my place, sits 7 people comfortably, has loads of jets, funky LED lights and Bluetooth speaker system, it puts this bare bones uncomfortable looking hot tub to shame.

I hope these owner's are furious at the developer. The rendering vs reality for that outdoor space is a real bait and switch. Could Starwood Mastercraft be held liable for false advertising?

I hate to trash anyone's home (other than Claridge Plaza), but wow, I can't imagine what a massive hit my mental health would have taken if I had purchased a unit on the north side of this building. The subjective and objective beatdowns just keep coming.

My thoughts exactly!

There's nothing but a fire extinguisher to offer any colour; no plants/trees/shrubs; and a pathetic excuse for a hot tub!

this would have been nice too!

to be fair, the terrace and a lot of the amenities are supposed to be in Phase 2 (you may have to squint to read this on the plan). But the developer is now on their second attempt to use the lot for car storage

I never understood why Soho built the shorter of two towers to the North, where they knew other condos would be going in next door...

To me, it would have made greater sense to have the shorter tower closer to Carling, and step up from there.

Can somehow help me understand the business model of SOHO Champange?

I understand that these are condo units that were made available for sale.

That said, their website states:

"Introducing SMR Champagne, a new breed of luxury residence hotel perfect for accommodation from a few days to a few months, with boutique hotel inspired, smartly furnished one and two-bedroom units for overnight and extended stays in Ottawa's scenic Dow's Lake."

Source:
https://www.mastercraftstarwood.com/smr-ottawa

So is this now also a hotel? Are these rental units? Is this a hybrid of some sort?

No idea who owns this penthouse or who would pay >$2M for it, but imagine being sandwiched between taller buildings, and having mediocre, mostly-obstructed views leftover, at this price point.

You can really put on a show for the neighbours while taking a bath or shower in that master bathroom

And you can put on a show in your hot tub for about 10-20 condos in Phase 2!

I wonder what the monthly condo fees are on that unit!?

I had a condo in Etobicoke about 10 years ago with a 400sq foot terrace up on the 22nd floor. BBQ etc.. it was awesome but it gets ridiculously windy. The wind lifted our 6 person glass patio table one night so high it went over the 4 ft railing and crashed in the guest parking lot unbelievably not hitting any car. we got lucky there.

To be fair there are plenty of desirable penthouses in denser areas of Ottawa and other cities that are surrounded by taller buildings. This area will inevitably be many times denser in the very near future and it will be less noticeable that this building is filling in the sandwich.

Nice! Hope to see the first phase of the Preston/Beech project launch soon, with grocery store. Such an impressive transformation in that area.
