Yeah, another great perspective... It gets to me thinkin' what that specific panorama will look like with the adjacent Ritz Carleton upon completion ... something akin to the duo World Trade Centre, pre 9-11 perhaps?

Was at VGH visiting someone last week and the downtown panorama certainly looked very cool with the addition of Shangri-la.

BTW, what's with the lookout tower at the top of Hotel Vancouver... never noticed it before!

$ 17.6 million for an estate? across the street from an ugly parkade, a 7-11 store and a Liquor Store with winos on Alberni bugging everyone who passes by for money?

that area around Shangri-La seriously needs a facelift

Well the ugly parkade and liquor store are long gone, so all thats left is the 7-11. Something I sure wouldnt mind in my neighbourhood, except the annoying bum who always seems to be right outside the doors of this particular 7-11 asking for change.

I thought the liquor store was still there at present but that it would come down eventually for the new Bentall office tower.

yeah, thats what i ment by long gone... they are long gone as in they wont be staying... contrary to how I phrased it they are infact both still there and operational. It will only be a short time though, as Bental's office is being fast tracked by the city I believe.

It seems that 7-11s are loser magnets.

If you build it they will come.

I love the convenience of a 7-11 in my neighborhood but I can't stand the able-bodied caucasian male (with the facial tattoo) that parks his ass out front begging for change.

The kind of people that buy $17.6m estates don't walk around their neighbourhood, they go straight from their limo to be dropped off at the building, have the door opened by the doorman and then go straight into their private elevator to their penthouse. They won't even know about the shops outside the building so it makes no difference to them - their view from their penthouse will be of the mountains, ocean, etc.

there was a little pic and write up in saturdays paper and it said it had reached floor 58 and would reach the final floor 61 on Saturday (dec 8)

it also said it still had several top floor units available aka unsold starting at $4.6 million

what a lucky shot. Kinda cool to see the shadow rise up the buildings as the sun dips below the horizon.

One Wall would look real good in a light gold colour.

It looks almost as if the mountains have been edited out of that webcam pic. And people say Vancouver wouldn't look good if not for the mountains. Still looks beautiful to me.

Thought I would compare the accuracy of our earlier attempts to visualize its final height with how its been coming along. What do you guys think? This seem like a pretty good call by bils based on what we've seen since?

After taking a closer look, I've noticed that if you take a straight horizontal line and compare the height of the Shangri-la in both pics to that of One Wall Centre, the highest floor lines up roughly with the top of the spire on Wall Centre in both. Therefore the final height should be even slightly taller than thought earlier.
