How does the transfer from concrete pillars/columns to steel work?
I noticed today that they are already pouring concrete columns for the 10th floor, which is supposed to be the first office floor and the first that I thought was supposed to be steel frame.
As I count, the columns will finish the 9th floor of parking. I thought here were going to be 9 parking floors? The first floor is retail, and thus won't count as a parking floor. ...adding up to 10 floors before the first floor of office. Does that makes sense in the plan? So once they top these columns, then the office floors begin.
Does anyone think that nine floors of parking is a bit much? I know they need to have people park there, but it just seems a bit much. Even if the parking spaces can be used by people in other buildings, I just think its kind of a lot. And with the METRO and Central Station right there, the building tennants would be able to take advantage of those transportation modes.

I agree, nine floors seems like a ton. But this is probably the one time I won't complaint about one of the effects of the Phoenix addiction to cars and parking-- building the parking podium that big just meant some added height for the building.
Well, there are over four million people and four million cars in the metro area, and OCPE will target all of them, not just necessarily the downtown residents. Valley residents are already intimidated by the perceived lack of parking downtown. Hopefully, adding this much parking will help squelch some of the "lack of parking" perceptions and attract more people.
it's wonderful because there's never enough parking downtown. And i know there's going to be way more people working in that building than there are parking spots.
They are finally putting the levelling floor onto the parking floors. This means in about a weak they might be starting to add the first office floor. It should start climbing quickly then!
Seems like it was stagnant for a week or two, but yesterday I looked at it and it looked noticably taller and the parking floors were nearing completion. Plus, they had a massive amount of the cladding up on the westside of the building (compared to the last time I noticed it). For some reason I think this is going to turn out to be my favorite DT PHX skyscraper.

They've been there workin... I'm sure all the rain had something to do with them not doing concrete work.
Looking good...will be nice once the steel starting rising. Anyone have a guess how fast the floors will rise once that starts, at least the steel skeleton? If I remember correctly, 44 Monroe was doing a floor a week...and that was concrete...so I'm guessing this should do 2 floors a week? Or in other words...it could be topped out in 2 months?
Damn that thing looks tall! Finally...I've been expecting it to rise since there was no longer any clearance for the concrete pouring "arm". I think the steel frame of the building will top out pretty quick...8-10 weeks.
It looks like they are already making big progress...between the crane going up yesterday and this morning at 8:45, it appears 1/2 of another floor is already up and I assume it's the first steel frame? I need to go check it out in person...
