I hope 400 King W. turns out as sleek and distinctive as the render.

^ Oh man, 52 stories of that window wall treatment is a tough pill to swallow. We have two towers like that in downtown LA that are quite prominent from the south view, and are an eyesore, so I feel you. On a positive note, there are a LOT of really nice-looking projects going up to distract you from that one.

^ lol you're right... I do know how lucky we are (unlike the large contingent of local UT forum whiners who hate everything ;-).

But it was so distasteful to post that Pemberton 'Social' abomination... I think I have settle my upset stomach by recapping some of my future favs that are in the pipeline (proposed/approved).

I'd be happy if half of these 'scrapers eventually emerge unscathed and built close to their render promise:

My picks to join the 200 metre to 300 metre+ club (pandemic and city planning be damned ;-):

372 Yonge - 74 storeys/248 metres

UT

475 Yonge - 78-storey/255.25 metres and 75-storey/246.4 metres

UT

55 Yonge Street - 66 storeys/236.21 metres

UT

8 Elm - 68 storeys/217.85 metres (recent re-design a huge improvement)

UT

UT

310 Front Street West - 69 storeys/235.5 metres[/B]

UT

11 Bay Street - 54 storey/269.45 metre office tower (likely has best the shot of all office tower proposals - rumoured to have a marquee tenant interested)

UT

Union Park - 58 storey/303.26 metre tall office tower plus 2nd office tower, 2 residential towers and apark decking over the rail corridor. Likely a long wait for this one but hey it's my list.

UT

Forma (approved/sales) - Gehry-designed 84 storeys/308.00 metres and 266.50 metres/73 storeys

UT

212 King Street West - 80-storey/311.8 metre mixed-use building (designed by SHoP Architects)

UT

2180 Yonge - 70 storeys/253.5 m (tallest of 5 mixed-use towers proposed).

UT

1200 Bay Street - 87 storey/324 metres - likely a long shot but this ultra skinny design from Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron would be fun to watch rise.

UT

Edited to add Santiago Calatrava's son Gabriel's (first ?) skyscraper:

30 Scollard | 230.89m | 61s | Constantine Enterprises | CA

Good choices, Maldive. If it's a wish list, I'd add CC3. The Hub looks stumpy since the height decrease.

I really hope Union Bay is built as proposed. And the rest of those pics are rather solid as well.

Even though I am an avid Toronto development watcher, i always discover new under construction projects on every page of this thread.
Lets hope that higher interest rates and ban on foreign buyers don't end the party now that so many great towers in are coming to market.

Oh man, Peter & Adelaide would have been really nice if they used quality curtain wall or even better window wall treatment between those brick panels. The Hampton, on the other hand, is turning out quite nice.

Fairview Mall Redevelopment | 197.6m | 58s | Cadillac Fairview l pre-construction

Phase 1 of the masterplan that will eventually see more towers surround the mall. Condo, public space, rental and retail (58, 48 and 38 storeys).

UT

UT

UT

It’s hard to keep track of all the mall redevelopment/mixed-use intensification proposed and underway:
Sherway Gardens (45, 40, 35, 30 storeys)
Yorkdale (eventual 26 buildings up to 50 storeys)
Scarborough Town Centre (full build-out would see up to 15,500 residences, office, and retail)
Galleria Mall u/c (nearly 3,000 residences, retail, public space)
The largest already underway - Oxford’s Square One District, a 37-tower mixed-use development in Mississauga that could eventually see 18,000 new residences (Phase 1 - 35, 37, 37, 48 and 52 storeys).

An example of full replacement of a mall with a proposed mixed-use community is Centerpoint Mall in North York (full build-out would see 22 mixed-use buildings up to 50 storeys).

They are excavating all the way to Yonge Street (on the right) and very close to the property line of the Dominion Building (top of pic), which will one day be hosting 2 (approved?) architectsAlliance mixed-use towers known as One Front. Wondering if One Front and CIBC (141 Bay) have a deal to share parking/loading access from Yonge Street.

A few notes:

1. One Cumberland is all about that base. Dayum. Amazing. The rest of the tower, however, is just meh. Focus group of one, obviously.
2. I really like 110 Adelaide Street East as well, though materials will make or break that one. But dig the funky and uneven articulation of the facade. It helps break up what would otherwise be a weird massing and responds creatively to the site's irregular footprint.
3. 33 Avenue Road is either going to be amazing or awful. If they use real white brick or terra cotta pavers all the way up to the mechanical penthouse (and love that they have them on the balconies!), real curved glass curtain wall, and actual bronze or brass accents along the floorplates, this will be exceptional. The greenery will never be that pronounced, but honestly, the design doesn't rely on the greenery if the materials are all top notch. If they value engineer it, it will really, really show, and will just be really bad, awkward balcony porn.
