Anyone hear rumours that Costco is rethinking the location of the 2nd Regina store?

I would believe it. The lack of a full set of bypass interchange ramps at Dewdney is a problem. Coopertown at the 9th N interchange is probably a better option, aside from the not existing part, but its close enough to neighborhoods that servicing the land is feasible. Northwest Harbour Landing wouldn't be bad if they could convince the city to extend Parliament Ave to the Hill Ave interchange, but that's a 3.5km empty stretch, but the Pinkie rebuild was 2.88 km so its not out of the question, and no bridges needed. That extension would be a valuable connection between the S and NW bypassing all the Lewvan traffic lights even if it isn't twinned for decades.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were rethinking it as well. Agree with @gecho111 - all access to/from the bypass is nonexistent onto Dewdney. I still believe north Lewvan is the most ideal spot - great access from in the city or if you are coming from out of town.

Actually Bypass access to/from northbound is good. Southbound is the issue, but it is not terrible. You must either head south on Pinkie (all paved, 80kph, I believe) to the Centre Road interchange or head west to Fleming and then Rotary back east to Rotary interchange.

While I was in Wascana Park near the CBC I got a shot of the project across the street. I was also over by Douglas Park, no sign of that 5 story infill starting yet.

Started a new gallery (https://imgur.com/a/XEcx03I) since the Sun/Mon one (https://imgur.com/a/jeEdBxP) had quite a few pictures already.

The framing on the multifamily project on the north side of College at St. John can also be seen in this photo.

The smaller multifamily project at 12th and Toronto has stalled at ground level the last few weeks.

Old Pinkie Road bridge mostly demolished. It was getting dark as I went past there, might head over there on Saturday.

I got out to the Pinkie bridge again today and the piles in the creek were already gone. First time using the Samsung Galaxy I got yesterday with the drone. The way the phone is held in the remote control I can't reach the power button to wake the phone. So I need to carry a popsicle stick to push the power button. The weather doesn't look good to use the drone for the next 2 weeks.

It looks like the office building at 1827 Albert is converting more office space to another 29 units of apartments. They took out a $2 million permit.

New proposed downtown housing development posted. In an unusual twist for Regina, parking lots will become housing. https://www.regina.ca/export/sites/R...rne-Street.pdf

This is just Namerind trying to hold onto the property after their parking lot permission expired in January (after they failed to build their previous, appropriate proposal). It was supposed to be a high-density tower...and now they want low-density condos downtown? It's a horrible project. Some online are saying that beggars can't be choosers, but that's how Regina keeps getting bad stuff done. Just be patient and force developers to meet certain criteria, even if takes longer. This is not what we need downtown:

Terrible. Highly inappropriate for public money to pay for this. If a private developer is this dumb, fine.

Though this is more appropriate for North Central Regina, maybe it’s a good start to get something built and better taller buildings will be proposed along the way, I believe there are well over 100 emptied lots in downtown so a couple of these won’t hurt

If that comment was on reddit that was me .

I don't agree with waiting forever for the perfect ideal proposal to fill some of these empty lots, HOWEVER, I do think some choosiness is allowed.

There has to be an in between option possible between the high density tower that relied on commercial offices to be possible (never going to happen now) and a proposal that absolutely is inappropriate for this lot.

I do believe better quality buildings are possible in this city right now, we have several being constructed in the city. The one on Broad and College is a great example.

This lot is also in a prime location for transit, as all the main transit routes are very close, it is a great location for HAF type housing. This low density option just isn't it.

Like I said, fine if it is private money, but they want free land from the City, a tax abatement and construction will be paid for by other levels of government and CMHC backed financing, then the land should be used appropriately.

This kind of project could go on the old Taylor Field lands.

Possible 3 story multi-unit infill by the General Hospital. At this time it is just a rezone application.

8 units, 5 parking stalls. It looks like this is the new normal. It should be interesting.

I wonder if the on street parking situation around the General has improved since they got their parkade.

You gotta think so. 1005 stalls! Street will still be busy with people who do not wish to pay.
