I hope those windows aren't messed up aren't direct sunlight is minimal. North-facing and glazing should help, but nothing is worse than skating along and being sent headfirst into the boards by a soft spot on the ice.

A pedestrian overpass over the rail tract is badly needed some where between Willingdon and Beta. Hope Costco and some developer jointly fund the expense.

Agreed and it should also cross Still Creek Drive since most of the foot traffic would be towards Costco.

I never shop at Costco but I understand all of them being very busy? The Downtown one gets a lot of foot traffic, so why wouldn't the Burnaby one see the same, if it would just be better connected to Brentwood?

most people i know who use transit, mainly skytrain and want a Costco run go to the old Costco which is a block away from Production Way station, its the easiest store to do so on foot. But they also have to go a few times more often as one can only carry or use some kind of trolley to cart a few items at a time. The Willingdon Cotsco is just too far if you are doing it on foot.

But a good pedestrian/bike rout that crosses the rail tracks and highway 1 would be nice to link up brentwood and BCIT etc. There is a really nice path that runs east west along that still creek area.

they recntly upgraded the gilmore overpass which now includes a much larger safer pedestrian/bike path.

The new Gilmore overpass is a great addition to the walking + cycling network. Connects seamlessly to the Central Valley Greenway, Gilmore Station and the Sea to River route to the south. Much more pleasant than the Willingdon Overpass!

To be fair, the Downtown one sits right underneath a Skytrain station, which obviously makes it infinitely more convenient for non-driving shoppers.

Also, with Downtown parking rates and prices, on top of everything - where most people who live in Downtown hardly drive anywhere themselves to being with - it's therefore not surprising that they'd get a lot more foot traffic, comparatively speaking.

Kind of a bit comparable to the Superstore at Metropolis with its proximity to the Skytrain on the one hand, and on the other hand with free mall parking for those driving.

It relieves surface parking congestion for Costco. Many times very hard to find parking circling around. South of Brentwood skytrain station will be very high density. Still Creek Costco services not just Brentwood , but all of Metrotown, Burnaby Height, even east Vancouver. With the amount of money Costco making , surely they can contribute to alleviate parking congestion.

It seems more plausible to add stairs up to the Willingdon overpass from Alaska.

Just enjoy the irony that it serves a huge swath of the area but not people right across the railroad tracks who want to walk.

Various forms of residential and more office space, sure - but does the area really need more hotel space here? There are already three other hotels, two of them within a block of this.

Daily Hive keeps calling the new crop of towers "super-tall".
"Super-tall" is reserved for towers over 300 metres, which none of these are.
