Honestly all I want for the Dewdney strip/railyards is simple: main floor commercial with 3-4 floors of residential. We don't need anything fancy, just move more people into the downtown area, and provide stores/restaurants for people to go to (which draws in people from other areas).

Last week they took down the blue fence that had been up all winter. The guys at Super Save must think nuts grow on trees because there was tons of fence nuts and bolts left behind. The road got graded after the fence came down so most of the bolts are now buried in the middle of the road.

It's a shame there is still so much land occupied by rail around there. Between the interlining junction and sidings that would probably double the amount of land. Since the city is looking at moving CP / CN rail lines maybe they could do their interlining out by the refinery, or over at the GTH.

There is a near-zero change of the rail lines being moved, simply because CP/CN are legally protected for any costs. The city would have to pay for the entire move, which would likely be in the hundreds of millions.

The rail lines there are not going anywhere. Moving out the railyards is as good as it is going to get. This is it. The pricetag would absolutely dwarf the proposed bill for the ones on Ring Rd.

Feds / Province would likely pickup 2/3 of the Ring Road relocation. The city rarely does anything significant transportation-wise without getting someone else to pay for most of it. Interlining change likely isn't on the radar even though it makes perfect sense with both lines being adjacent in that location.

I went past the General Hospital parkade and they were starting to built the opposite end of the garage. SpaceX is building an identical style one and they started building both ends as well before the middle. Apparently its because the ends have the stairwells and elevator shafts so it is best to put those up first so finishing work can get started.

I think the Sask Drive project is supposed to address that. Ideally you have a detention pond lower than the area that floods, but its hard to do that when the area that floods is a hole. Also not much available land in the area.

I am pretty sure the underpass has been flooding for 100+ years. Also the new system already failed. It was flashing the FLOODED warning yesterday in the rain when it was not flooded. False alarms will render it useless.

Warning signals are useless, as proven by the signals at the '11 Foot 8' bridge (aka The Canopener) in Durham NC. There are many YouTube videos of it getting hit, even though there are warning lights and digital indication that a vehicle is too high.
Too many people disregard signs of any kind (STOP signs for one!) so why would they heed the warnings at the Albert Street underpass? With many of the vehicles on our streets being SUVs and pickup trucks, owners/drivers think they are invincible and can drive right through anything.
There may be several options such as pop-up barriers or pipes bollards, but with faulty sensor readings they would close one of the busiest streets in the city to all traffic. Obviously, better choices would be cost prohibitive for a relatively infrequent problem. I wouldn't want the City to pay more than they already are. Besides, who is asking for these improvements? SGI? Let them pay for 100% of the cost!

Not really though? Most of the reason for rising opposition to Trudeau is due to the affordability and housing crisis, both of which have been decades in the making and happening under both Conservative and Liberal governments.

speaking of opposition to Trudeau, ...and this coming from someone initially so hopeful when he took office back in 2015... how about the fact that we're letting 1 million plus people into the country at a time where we have a housing crisis and the current healthcare system is stretched to the absolute limit?... and why are they all from one source country.. more specifically one region?.... what is happening to Canadian diversity?... it's being diluted significantly in the process. The country should focus less on international students from India (many of whom are here falsely and not even studying) and perhaps get back to taking care of the current situation here before allowing absurd numbers of people in. Immigration is necessary, but the sheer volume of people coming into the country is exacerbating all the problems we are currently facing.

The pot of land has been sitting empty forever. How do you expect them to develop this land when they can’t even fix an underpass the floods all the time for the last 50 years have not heard of engineers before they’re so stupid so stupid so stupid.
