Agreed. An interstate offramp running through a retail development doesn't seem too safe or desirable. I hope they study other options like your suggestion, or making vehicles exit onto Cambronne Street. I could even envision all traffic exiting onto Carrollton's north-bound side and reconfiguring/adding a traffic light for vehicles to turn left, to avoid the shopping center mess entirely.

Just drove past the dome on both the Expwy and the ground-level. Won't ruin the surprise for those who haven't seen it yet, but I think the effect is pretty awesome and yes, even a bit classy.

Went out to the square and the event was better than I thought it would be. Wow the capabilities for a show in that square are incredible! No other facility will be able to match the convenience and look of the Dome thats for sure! Job well done!

Again the VCC has NOTHING to do with 1031 Canal. That was the VCPORA which is a neighborhood organization.

The Quarter looks like a rotten wet rat....the VCC needs more enforcement powers and money to ensure buildings are kept up because right now, THEY aren't!

Not sure if you're right, but either way, could you cut down on the "I'm correcting you" tone?

Mercedes-Benz might be kind of pleased with their choice tonight. See how I turned this into a development topic?

Doesn't it seem like there would be a market for street-level outparces for fast casual restaurants, targeting Xavier students? Or is that too far of a walk from their classes? Maybe that sort of thing would be more likely on Washington.

I tend to think Carollton as its currently set up is a bit of a hassle for xavier students to cross. I think Washington is a better fit for restaurants targeting them.

Change of topic:

but heres a link to the latest plan for the Lafitte corridor. Looks really nice.

Very nice! I thought it was just going to be lots of grass, a bike path and walking path.

On slides 72 & 73, is this the old Winn-Dixie parking lot?

The greenway could be a major game changer for this section of the city. Looks like a great plan.

I've seen various iterations of this for several months. What is the likelihood of it actually happening? Does it have funding? Will neighbors or the city object?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, but it almost seems like it's too good to be true!

I believe its a phased plan. So full completion is projected to be in early 2014,but parts are to start opening as early as late 2012. It really is a nice plan and I too thought it was just a bikeway and walking trail.

Reinventing the Crescent

Real excited to see the Lafiette Corridor moving along - another game changer for NOLA! On a different note: does anybody know what ever happend with Reinventing the Crescent? There seemed to be a lot of momentum with this project and then just fell silent...
