Thanks. Okay, so it is data based off of JPMC's customers' transactions - which is a very large bank no doubt - but also doesn't represent "THE TRUTH" but maybe a decent sample of what's going on in the US. Personally, i'd take it as a sort of, but not whole, truth considering how many card holders there are at other banks in the US like Citi, WF, BofA, AMEX, PNC, and a lot of smaller banks. Those other banks - Citi, WF, B of A, and AMEX also have tons of card holders which wouldn't be counted in here. Who knows what the data would look like with that. Perhaps similar, but it would be interesting to know and the number of card holders in the country not part of this data set is larger than the data set itself. It also does not track cash payments and as we all know - all over the US there are small businesses that do a lot of cash payment instead of card.

It probably makes a bit more sense when you realize it's by metro not city. Suburban Chicago for the most part is national chain shopping and eating.

That's quite a false stereotype. Actually there are tons and tons of small and ethnic businesses and restaurants in the burbs. I'd go so far to say that the burbs are overflowing with small businesses. Of course there are tons of chain restaurants too.

You know your building sucks when it get's totally lost in it's own rendering. Which building in that image is the proposal again? Oh yeah, the shitty one kinda off center towards the middle.

^^^ Haha, my thoughts as well. Took me a second to realize which was the new one. Total let down from what was previously designed.

Yeah, I'm going to hope this doesn't get built. That Printers Row corner is too important and needs a good bookend. The previous project fulfilled that role very well, this redesign does not.

When it looks like a tear down candidate in its own rendering, you know it is bad.

^ There was also talk of including a ramp down to the garage and possibly of keeping the queued taxis on the ramp as well. Would be useful particularly for Loews valet or self-park guests; would in general shorten such trips and generally diminish traffic on/around Park Drive.

It's definitely both but I'm willing to bet it's skewed more towards chains in the suburbs versus the city. Regardless, it's hard to take this as a truth more than just a good sample. There's too many factors out there - this was the data from just one bank and although large, there's a lot more cardholders from outside the bank too. A ton of small business only accept cash too, and a lot of people will pay for their stuff in cash even if they accept card too.

2550 S Wabash (~26th and Wabash) - just south of the 55 - got a building permit on Friday to convert to 36 units and retail. It used to be the warehouse and for Kissel Motor Car. Supposed to be luxury and all duplexes. According this article from October 2015, the units will average 1600 sq ft and cost $2300-$2600/mo. Apparently this project was planned during around 2006-2007 but stalled due to obvious reasons.
