I dig it. I really like 360's vertical lighting strip, but that's now mostly hidden. It's a cool way to emphasize verticality at night. I also imagine that by placing it where they did, they minimize disturbances to the residences.

Ha, at least the lighting here is slightly more interesting than Fairmont.

What would be more interesting is if the color changes. What is the point of a blank wall lit white at night. I'd rather have some sort of cool LED billboard or something than boring steady white light which we have more than an abundance of already in DT. I'd just as well see it stay completely dark at night if they aren't going to have any neat multicolored lighting effects.

I'm thinking this building turned out to be a 3 or 4 out of 10.
I'll give it credit for:
1. height
2. pretty good nighttime lighting scheme
3. it replaced something that won't be missed
maybe 4. it looks decent on the skyline from afar

With the expansiveness of this particular lighting, I worry that in time it's consistency will become rather patchy if not maintained. You can already see dark patches during what is probably a test period, but I think this is what we can expect later on. Agree on color.

Color would obviously be superior, but lighting is always better than no lighting. It deters crime and makes people feel safer walking around after dark, which is important for a 24/7 city.

Some folks are getting mighty picky picky picky. Lol
If in 2000 they could’ve had a crystal ball look at today’s Austin skyline, they would’ve crapped their onesies with joy

I agree, this building should have a crystal ball on top.

In 2000 we couldn't afford to be picky. Today we should be a bit more critical.

Have the crystal ball on top do similar stuff to that sphere in Las Vegas.

Well, it's not, and given the prominence of this tower, folks have justified complaints about it. Yeah, the height is great, but the design really could've been better, but bulky glass boxes are in.
