IMO, from that perspective, 1 Vandy really takes the cake. I think that perspective is one of 111 W 57th's weak points from a aesthetics standpoint. The East/West or vice-versa (E/W) is its strongest angle of viewing.

I agree. Steinway looks utterly iconic from E-W and less so from N-S. 1 Vandy, by contrast, looks most iconic from N-S.

The angle of some of the planes of the topmost glass spire portion are so slightly off from 90 degrees vertical that it kind of tricks the eye and makes the whole thing seem warped or askew. That's my biggest complaint about the spire. Hope that makes sense.

thanks for posting close ups --- the completed lower third of the crown section looks very boss. i was kind of anxiously waiting to see some completed part of it up close. its clean top shelf design and work.
