Thanks for posting. I'm really enjoying the views from the drone. It's unbelievable how much development has occurred east of Regina. Just a bit sad that so much fertile agricultural land continues to be taken out of production. Also, very impressed that you ride your bike out that far. Stay safe on the roads.

This is a nice looking facility. Thanks for posting the pics. Kudos to the architectural firm that designed this.

It was a 68 km / 3.5 hour ride. I used to ride a lot further, but mostly plan for under 3 hours the past few years. Partly since I don't like riding in the summer daytime heat. Up to about 3.5 hours I can get away with just taking water.

My ride log shows I've ridden 152,000 km since I got back into riding in 2009. A few years after that I got a GPS and I've accumulated 133,700 km of gps traces.

I made an updated video of all my gps traces for just the city played back at once.

And one zoomed out further. I did some very long rides doing several gps challenges trying to cover as much area as possible.

A short one zoomed in closely.

OMG.....I worked with Ward Peters way back in the early 90's at MGM. My final workplace in Regina before I moved to Calgary in 1991.

Just WOW. That is so far beyond impressive that it blows my mind. Well done. Such dedication.

Does anyone have any updates for that Rapid Housing project in North Central? They were supposed to be done for the 31st and seems kind of like a ghost town around there.

Take a look at Arwell Living's instagram - they've posted 7 times, basically giving updates on daily progress. That would suggest that the site is still active.

According to Instagram they were drywalling 2 days ago. The thread on this forum says occupancy was pushed to mid Q1 2025

So cool. Used to ride lots in my younger days, but I would usually limit it to about 30 to 35km per ride in the early evening and no where near as comprehensive on the street system. That is amazing.

You've got a new subscriber. I love visualizations.

I'll do a visualization of the year I did my most complete coverage of the city. Playing back all years the map quickly fills up.

The first year I rode the entire city I'd use my GPS trace after every ride to fill in gaps on OpenStreetMap, there were a lot of missing alleys at that time.

My longest ever ride was 436 km. From home in the NW at 4am over the the Vic Square Tims to meet up with some other people, then out to White City, down to Vibank, back up to the #1, over to Broadview, down in the valley and up to Melville, back down the #10 to Regina, and a ride back home through the city at 3 am.

edit: Rides for just 2019, I got carried away that year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fonvnb1YgBs

Drone shots of the Lakeshore demo, Avana site near east Canadian Tire and sewage trunk work in AE Wilson park. Also took a video at the Lakeshore demo that needs processing.

I probably shouldn't move the drone if I plan on speeding up the video. My computer can randomly drop USB devices during large file transfers. Today I discovered a workaround using the command line robocopy command which can automatically resume when interrupted.

I also did the time lapse that I wanted to do Sunday, but there was still enough wind to mess it up. I'll have to give it another go on a calmer day. I wanted to record as long as possible so I just landed the drone about half a km away in some grass instead of bringing it back. The grass didn't look so tall from over head, but was 2 feet. I also should have picked a better reference point instead of just a light pole as there were many of those. The flight app drone find feature was very helpful, also that it can make the drone start beeping.

Of note in the weekly building permit report:

Calm Homes, $2,262,623.80 for a 12 unit condo at 1876 Toronto (NW corner 12th and Toronto). There is a vacant corner lot there.

MPM Construction, $3,670,000.00, 4801 E VICTORIA AVENUE. I believe this the Sunbelt Rentals expansion.

Also this 10 unit townhome project in Westerra: https://www.livabl.com/regina-sk/859...enue-townhomes

It was calm but cold this morning so I was able to do a traffic time lapse out at the west bypass interchange. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=la_X6RHnm18

I think its going to be a stacked classroom addition. I took some pictures and you can see a hole dug for footings right up against the building. There was one being built at Jack McKenzie School that was already stacked, I didn't get a pic but I'm over near there a lot so I can get one next time.

I added the pictures to the bottom of this gallery, with some more Lakeshore pictures from today. https://imgur.com/a/BIi0HhK

I figured out how to get the drone to automatically orbit a point and took a video at the Lakeshore mall. It went a bit crazy so I didn't get an entire loop. It uses object tracking for auto shots, and rubble might be a bit too vague for it to maintain a lock. Or it was a wind gust. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzOV4CPu3hg
