Really real. When we moved to Ottawa in 2007, Strandherd Rd was considered rural. Now it's the hub of Barrhaven. Now they're building as far as Manotick. Same in Kanata and other suburbs. If you don't know these places, search them up on Google Maps.

If and only if they extend the 417 to at least Renfrew, preferably Manitoba but that's not something that can be done in this country within 50 to a billion years.

For the record, I think my position on twinning TCH may have been softened a bit nowadays. As long as serious (especially fatal) accidents and weather-related closures stop happening, I'm happy. I just don't know if that's too much to ask for though.

In other unexpected Ontario Highway news... additional work is planned starting this year on the 410 between the 401 and 407. They will be completing the missing ramps between the 410 and Courtneypark Drive, as well as building a southbound sub collector ramp between the Derry Road and Courtneypark interchanges:

Work includes structural rehabilitation and widening, pavement rehabilitation, structural culvert works, reconfiguration of ramps, ATMS and implementation of Active Transportation works as follows:

• Highway 410 sub-collector system between Derry Rd. and Courtneypark Dr.
• Interchange Ramp Reconfiguration
Courtneypark Dr Interchange including new N-E/W and E/W-N ramps
• Structural Culvert Works
Culvert extensions at Site 24-559/C and Site 24-600/C
• Structural Rehabilitation

Also, out of sheer curiosity, if Highway 410’s to be extended past Mayfield Road to meet the GTA West Corridor, what’s to do with the freeway section that goes parallel to Mayfield Road until Hurontario Street? Should it be demolished?

Maybe not, just make it a spur. We need new class of 400 series!

That part of Highway 410 will run parallel to GTA West Corridor, though. Then again, what am I thinking? It's always good to keep a non-tolled reasonable alternative. LoL, the northern part of Brampton will feel a lot like some cities in the States, then, where tolled and non-tolled freeways are next to one another.

Additionally, you* (general you) know what will be nice? A GTA West Corridor Tolled Freeway with a spur to Halton Hills (which should be tolled too). Highway 7 between Halton Hill's east end (Norval) and Mississauga Road only has 2 lanes and can get hopelessly congested during rush hour.

I find it ironic that he mentioned public transit, because his town actually voted against it a while back. Public transit in Halton Region is just a joke. Milton and Oakville each do their own thing, so the two towns have to be connected by a bi-hourly Go bus (route 20) which doesn't even run on weekends.

I knew there are improvements planned for the QEW-403 split, but not the QEW/403/407 interchange.

It would be nice to see an extra travel lane on the QEW pushed through the interchange, even if it is just HOV only.
