This is the great hope! We have, and still are, building a background against which a better, more creative, and different architecture will be set.

It's interesting to watch the progress of this project vs. the progress of the Brentwood development. This is flying compared to brentwood.

Awesome! This thing almost got rejected in this city. Good thing the casino company compromised and not insist on increasing their tables/slots machines. Looking forward to its completion.

It appears to be flying only because this is such a tiny project compared to what's happening at Brentwood. With that said, the casino, function halls, hotels and restaurants will definitely bring life beyond sporting events to this part of downtown. It would be a new tourist draw for sure.

They'll make them stop half way up and change to seafoam blue glass.

Remember, the back side of the towers WILL switch to a different wall system (shown on the renderings).

The glass does look rose coloured in the pics (like the pink tower on Alberni)
- or like the dreaded mauve colour on the north side of TV Towers.

Looks similar to Mercury Tower in Moscow to me:

Agreed, anything is nicer than seafoam and cyan.

Good stuff.

Very neat corner of Vancouver being built there - dare I saw very un-vancouver corner.

This was my first reaction when I saw it in person. Maybe ever so slightly more orange/copper in colour.

It is beyond comprehension that the City, and the Design Review process, can look at our downtown and think to themselves: "thank god for us, just think of the disaster it would be if we had not forced our mediocre design tastes upon every citizen and visitor." Think of the many many projects that only diminished as they went through this. Absolutely amazing!

For me, this project is interesting for what it does to the urban space; the design is either a) great for its finesse (it is doing its creation of its spaces and its external presence quite well, maybe very well), or b) only OK and So So, in the context that it is a mere derivative of other buildings (but then almost everything is these days); but mostly it is excellent, simply by creating competent and significant difference in the city.

I'm curious about how the inside of the casino will look....

This is a great opportunity to really create a flashy, fun, Vegas-like casino that can really outshine every other casino in the Lower Mainland.

It certainly will outshine every other casino in the Lower Mainland, but I don't think they are going the Vegas flashy route. It will be streamlined, sophisticated and spatially interesting; and it will have a feel that will complement the overall/exterior architecture.

Loving the glass, and the color. If for no other reason, it is different . Wish vancouver had more reflective glass.

It's going to be fantastic to see the whole facades covered in this glass. It's going to contrast nicely with One Pacific.

It will also provide endless angles of stadium reflections. This will probably contribute to a more spacious feel to the 'tightish' spaces between the two.

I don't think mirrored glass is planned for the side facing the stadium (at least not on the towers)

Parq Vancouver: First Look at Glazing

Quote:
It has been a couple months since we last visited the upcoming 'urban resort' known as Parq Vancouver, developed as a joint venture between Paragon Development, Dundee Corporation, and PBC VUR Limited Partnership. Strategically positioned next to BC Place, which played host to the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, the 800,000-square-foot casino and hotel complex has received its first cladding panels.

Panels look better in person.

Very reflective, great colour change on different angles. Should look awesome once finished.

Super stoked on this corner of Vancouver, between the Arc, OnePacific and this, it should provide more character in 3 buildings than all of Yaletown's teal and cyan disaster put together.
