That's going to be a nightmare trying to get inside the arena once construction on the towers begins. I don't see where they'll enter once the front is cut off.

The arena looks bigger on the inside, probably because the basketball court is below grade. MSG would be a whole lot bigger had it not been for Penn Station.

The towers are going BEHIND the arena and north along Atlantic Avenue, so it's therefore not blocking the entrance at all. The Arena's entrance is at the intersection and will remain as it looks in the new renders, which I like. However, brown just doesn't justify it. Not only that, EVERYTHING on the plaza is brown. I know Atlantic Mall is brown as well, but they've done it with style.

What I'm looking for, is a wider variety of colors, perhaps to resemble the Nets' new colors, in the event of a name/design change.

Not to get to off topic but Bstyles the Nets sent a name change request to the NBA in August I think, but they definitely sent a request in. Would be cool if they wore old Brooklyn Dodger blue and white but who knows.

Should be interesting to see how they try and incorporate the towers that will eventually go up adjacent to a brown and sort of teal arena.

I'm going to try and reserve any judgements until I see it in person.

There are two towers going behind the arena but "Miss Brooklyn" which was the name given to the tower that will be on the land that will be occupied by the temporary plaza will still be built, although it may unfortunately be much lower. It looks to me like this will block the main entrance into the arena making it tough to get 20,000 ppl in the side doors.

Well it still may or may not happen. The reason why the Nets applied for that name change is because they had to just to change the first name, and since they 're not going to be in New Jersey anymore they will have to change to Brooklyn or New York which I think they are still undecided on as well.

If they do change names, I believe it will be to Knights which is a play off of the name given to someone from Brooklyn which is a Brooklynite. They use to own the website BrooklynKnights.com which was black and had a faded Nets logo with a horse in the background.

The current design is intended to serve as a placeholder until economic conditions allow for the construction of the Atlantic Yards’ first office building. At that time, the portion of the plaza from the transit hub entrance to the arena will be enclosed in 80-foot-high glass walls, creating what the developers refer to as an “urban room,” with the office tower sitting on top. The team has not yet decided how the plaza will change when the office tower is added, but indicated that they hope to preserve many of its original design elements.

I first hated this (not because it 'destroys' Brooklyn or whatever that's suppose to mean) but it now has grown on me and cannot wait to watch a game there.

This arena looks just like an oatmeal cream pie:

LOL, it actually kind of does (and I love oatmeal cream pies). But it beats the toilet look that MSG has apparently been going for...

The brown color has actually grown on me. At least it's a more natural color and IMO better than the typical silver, beige, or glass blue you see going up everywhere these days. I think it might turn out just fine. The "hat" portion looks alot lower than I expected in the close-up renderings. Don't know if the scale of the people was fudged or not, but it does almost look more like an intimate gathering space as opposed to a windswept, dark plaza.

The plaza seems fine, just can't get too worked up about it knowing that it's planned to be only temporary. I just wish there was some sort of gift shop over that subway
entrance or even some sort of stepped up seating (like over the Tkts booth in Times Sq). That would make a nice public performance space. But again, I guess they don't
want the public to get too used to it.

^^^ What a great photo, although those elevated weeds look overgrown already. Wish they would have gone with the Barclays Center spelled out like in the original, although it's going to be academic in the next few years anyways.

I noticed the two back towers are faded now. Are they going to be redesigned again?

^ It's where the "Miss Brooklyn" is planned to rise.

None of the skyscrapers has been designed yet, but even the signature "Barclays Arena" sign on the overhang will have to be replaced.

Its a beautiful plaza. I personally don't think they should but a skyscraper right in front of the stadium.

Well thats your opinion of course. I dont like MSG, but I sure as heck
dont like this design at all. MSG was a victim of anti-progressive early 1960's
stadium designs: (See: Three Rivers Stadium, Veterans Stadium, Kingdome, Riverfront Stad.... the list goes on and on.)

Whats the excuse for Brooklyn? Lack of funds?

That's one take on it, though personally it's down to taste. Many people have claimed Ghery's designs for Brooklyn to be to "flashy" and more suitable to Manhattan. I disagree, but I do think this design works well at this location and will become a focal point of Brooklyn. But back to funding, if this design is what allowed the arena to be under construction rather than just a fancy rendering, then all the more power to it.
