This building is turning out so well! Really looking great as the top completes. The interior renders kind of look like they hired Beetlejuice on an acid trip as the designer. But kind of like it. I wonder how close the reality will actually come to those. We'll see soon.

I posted a link from the W's website a bit ago. It has lots of renders up in the photo section on what the different spaces here will supposedly look like. Here it is: https://www.marriott.com/hotels/hotel-photos/phlwh-w-philadelphia/ See especially the living room bar (but really a lot of the spaces): "Sip on specially curated cocktails and get a lesson in cranial anatomy. The lounge in the W Philadelphia Living Room features avant-garde décor inspired by the Hyrtl Skull Collection at the Mutter Museum."

It looks fantastic, and I'm pleased to announce I'm going to have my hair cut in the shape of its top floors from now on.

Maybe it can replace the Kensington Caesar as the official haircut of Philadelphia.

Mechanical screen looks a lot darker than they anticipated.

Than they anticipated or you anticipated? The color looks pretty true to the rendering to me.

I don't think it's up yet. That is some black prep material (portions of which continue to be covered in glass). But, yes, the renders showed it in black to begin with.

Yeah, maybe mostly I anticipated, but it's clearly darker than that rendering.

It looks like a mess. In my opinion.

This has quickly become one of my favorite all glass skyscrapers. I usually hate them, but FMC and this have both piqued my fancy.

^I think any material can be overused, whether glass, brick or whathaveyou. Glass became boringly ubiquitous. Any material can be used in an uninspiring way as well. Design is everything. FMC and W make an effort to think outside the (glass) box.

My only problem is the concrete wall facing the north side.
How much could it cost to continue the top of the tower's dark cladding down the back-center of the building?

Labor probably more than materials to do that. I agree it's a great looking building design and material wise but to leave that concrete exposed like that cheapens the whole project.

^That's the real issue, not the mechanical area cladding. As with CTC, having a bit of a disconnect between the glass and the mesh seems to be an occupational hazard.

I like the engraved "W" in the concrete. It would've been cool if they gave the concrete some kind of imprint like board-form and left it unpainted.
