The fact that the project is across the street from the Streets of Buckhead probably plays a part in the decision.

Yea, I know, but it still would have been nice to extend some of the retail/commercial activity (providing necessities, such as cleaners, small specialty grocery store, drug store, etc etc, instead of luxuries) off the Streets of Buckhead corridor. That would add more of a variety and more dimension to the Buckhead Village area. Neighborhoods in Atlanta could use more fine-grained, side street retail. With that said, hopefully the apartments will at least be built according to SPI-9 standards.

appears those estimates stating atlanta had 500k+ in 2009 may have been due to one guy being convinced the initial estimates for fulton county in 2005-2007 were wrong

Yeah Atlanta has been dead the past two years, so unlike Atlanta. Hope things pick up at the latter part of this year. Miss the announcements of projects after projects, and following them here. :-)

Yea. Once development kicks back into high gear, I wonder would anyone be interested in starting a new construction thread. Since most of the projects featured on the first page of this thread has either been completed or cancelled, I think a new fresh thread signaling new beginnings is warranted.

Hopefully, development never kicks into the same gear that it did last decade...isn't that really part of the problem that lead to the recession?! Something more sustainable this time, please!

I think as the energy crisis gears up the economics of suburban and exurban living will change significantly enough to drive a boom in high efficiency urban housing stronger than we saw before everything got screwed up. It wasn't the excessive development that hurt things; it was the inappropriate financing. I expect a lot of the hi-rise apartment infill Novare has recently proposed.

Hopefully they'll be shutting down that nasty chinese restaurant. That's actually a historic building, it would be nice if they went back to the original first floor facade -- maybe it's hiding under the fake stucco??

What will happen to the Holiday Inn Express near the Tabby? That is a prime location for a museum.
