Funny about the blue band for the BMO signage. I go through the intersection every day and when I was stopped there yesterday looking at it from the south, I though that it looked good, but something was off. I thought it looked a little choppy and not smooth for some reason. From that distance I couldn't tell but Buzzg definitely answered it. Strange for sure....

The glass looks great.

The reason they gave was a lack of office space. For the actual branch it's definitely smaller, but I'm assuming they put offices up in the actual tower.

Ah thanks, it's too bad that they couldn't / wouldn't find space in one of the three adjacent MTS towers on the SE corner.

Ya, part of me has a sneaky suspicion that while that may be partially a factor, it's fully possible they didn't want to keep paying the huge overhead and maintenance costs with the historic one, and 201 probably gave them a sweet deal to move once TD left.

Including the tower that they themselves built in the mid-80s to provide more space for themselves next to their historic main branch. Annoying... it's a big 'screw you' to Winnipeg.

So in that vein, the plywood signage worthy of a Watt Street secondhand shop makes sense as another 'screw you' to Winnipeg.

I can't imagine Harvard would spend millions renovating 201 and allow that. It's gotta be temporary but it just seems dumb to install the signs only to remove them shortly.

Plywood is a premium building material. It's almost $60 a sheet for 3/4"!

I personally suspect that supply of desired materials might be an issue at this time so they went for the temporary solution.

Probably cheaper to go with custom aluminum panels than use plywood in today's market! Obviously it is only temporary.

Website is up for The District at Bridgwater.
Lots of renderings and images on there. It looks like it will be quite the development.

On another note Bravado by Ironclad is moving along quite quickly too.

Can we put a moratorium on things called or with "The District" in them? What is even districty about this building?

I live in Bridgewater. I personally think do think the District look much nicer than the existing condos and apartments in the area. Still feels very suburban and a bit cheap-looking though.

Yeah, I agree that it points towards an overall nicer and more modern feel.
It almost feels like a hybrid of Altea active’s and the rise’s designs, which should actually tie everything together quite nicely.

& when driving northbound on Kenaston it will cover up 325 park east condos and improve the view as you approach bridgwater centre.

It's one of those things like sage creek. Looks and feels nice when driving on the road. But you enter from the huge sea of parking hidden on the other side. If they wanted to make a pedestrian environment, all those shops should be lined up on a pedestrian mall. With the roads and parking elsewhere. It'll never be like a real downtown of any kind though.

The view towards the library is nice; but the 3 buildings on the other side of the street block a lot.

234 Portage Ave. seems to be up for sale. Anyone know the history behind this place? Because this is part of the interior. Wow.

^^^Never would know from the outside.

...I kind of expected to see Jack Black in one of the photos - from the Movie "The house with a clock in its walls"
