You are right. They are going to have their office in the cobb galleria area.

MARTA is planning to expand...hopefully pepole will support the 2012 transportation referendum. I think that some of the projects that will be on the list are long overdue.

Does anyone have a link to the maps of some of these proposals?

I'd like to check out the Lindbergh-Emory line proposal, and se what $650M buys these days.

Thanks!

^Just google "clifton corridor." That area has been studied to death for transit. Most recently, some NIMBY's along Clairmont killed the possibility of sending light rail into Decatur from the Emory area, so if it gets built anytime soon it'll probably go from Lindbergh to Avondale.

The most expensive project, the line along I-20, is actually the most likely to be built. Studies show it would have by far the greatest ridership and serves a transit-dependent population.

I work at Lenox-The space to be opened was simply painted white with the words "Another first in the Atlanta market." It is now wrapped with wallpaper announcing it's arrival.

Like I said in a thread in another forum discussing Emory Point, though the renderings look pretty good, what's up with that "dead space" lawn on the edge of the first phase? I wished they would have incorporated that green space into the development in a better way than right there. It seems weird to me. Like a big front yard to a single family home, rather than public green space.

I just think it is a little misguided to plop down green space for the sake of having green space without much thought going into it. I see this a lot in the newer mixed use developments in the Atlanta area.

Upon actually studying the site plan, I can see better how the green space would fit into the finished development. I just think that the green space would have worked much better incorporated into that arcade-like pedestrian section right in the middle of the first phase. That way you get the green space without sacrificing or wasting space on the edge or side. Then phase one could have been built out right to the lot without "breaking" up the connectivity with the other phases.

A couple of things on that postage stamp park that I think isn't so bad. It's actually on what looks to be the main pedestrian route from the development to the CDC. I'm sure this is going to be heavily marketed as residents and shopping/restaurants for the CDC crowd. Also once Phase II is developed it's no longer so much on the edge of the devepment. Finally, when you look at the actual renders it seems to be not just a public park but a performance area with a stage and lawn seating.

AJC article on proposed sales tax for a number of significant transportation projects. Would be great for the area's transportation as well as the local construction industry.

The Streets of Buckhead will still have two high-rise apartment buildings and 350k square feet of retail. Construction should begin by the end of this year. And instead of it being built in phases, it will all be built out at once.

I see what you're saying and it should be a really nice park, but it still seems awkwardly placed to me. I still think it would have been better placed in between that pedestrian arcade right in the middle of phase one. I was thinking something along the lines of Las Ramblas in Barcelona:

Thank you, Zanarkand! Atlanta should be teeming with public spaces like this, being that the area is gifted with such gorgeous flora and weather. I would love to see more truly urban green spaces like this incorporated into mixed use developments, as Atlanta continues to densify.

A great example that's already in the Atlanta area is Post Riverside. They did a fantastic job with how skillfully balanced the green-space is with the other components of the development. Actually, Post Riverside is one of my favorite developments in Atlanta (along with Glenwood Park). I find the scale extremely appealing and fine grained, with just the right amount of density and green space, without feeling too congested.

320,000-square-foot mixed-use 26-story high rise slated for Virginia-Highland

New Highland Tower anchor’s include a five-diamond luxury hotel and Restaurant Nubo

After the whole Wayne Mason debacle, something tells me this will never be built. Ever. Even I have to admit, this is very, very out of place. If it were 3-6 stories instead of 26, I could envision it at that intersection.

Would it work in Midtown? Yes. In a neighborhood composed predominantly of single-family homes and one-storey retail? Heck no!

Edit: After looking at the comments, it appears that this is an April Fool's joke. Color me a fool.
