Great updates Vashon! Insignia is lifting up the skyline on the northwest side. Of the pre-recession proposals, that's probably the highrise project that I most wanted to see built. My second-most want-to-see project was 8th and Seneca (Cielo?). Those were the two that could help change the skyline some, others get lost in the pack. I'm a happy camper.

Not surprising........Seattle's rate of growth has accelerated in the past year.

In latest U.S. Census figures, cities continue growing

Americans' growing love affair with cities shows few signs of abating, with several large cities growing last year at several times the national rate, suggest new findings from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Who Wants To Rent Space In Historic King Street Station?

Friday, May 23, 2014, by Sean Keeley

For the first time since 1906, Seattle has offered up available space inside historic King Street Station for rent. In particular, 23,500 sq. ft. of office space on the 2nd & 3rd floor as well as 1,350 sq. ft. of restaurant space on the ground floor. The 1906-built terminal was recently renovated and retrofitted by the city, opening once again in April 2013. Interested? You've got until June 19 to submit a proposal.

The First Step For Westlake Steps Is Residential

The long-gestating Westlake Steps mixed-use project is finally moving into the design guidance phase as architect Weber Thompson and developer Holland Residential have a design review board meeting scheduled for June 4 to begin the residential part of the plan. In the works since 2007, the complex will consist of two structures. The south building will include approx. 293 apartments (1 & 2-BRs) while the north building will include 118 apartments (413 total). Original plans called for 325 apartment units. The buildings will also include 1,400 sq. ft. of retail space (one rendering calls for a bowling alley) and 270 parking stalls. This is only "phase one" of the Westlake Steps project, which may eventually include a hotel, office building and possibly even more goodies.

More Details On Downtown Condo/Hotel Project 'Daola Tower'

Earlier this month, news broke that RBF Property Group was planning to build a 42-story tower at 1121 Stewart St. which will include a 78-room hotel, 95 condos and 9,600 square feet of retail and restaurant space. Now those plans are going before the design review board on June 3 for early guidance and we're getting a bit more detail about the project they're calling Daola Tower. The lobby, restaurant, and hotel services will occupy the first and second floors, with hotel rooms on floors three through seven, and residences and residential amenities occupying the building's remaining 35 floors. The building may also include a fitness club, spa, rooftop deck, and a concierge service for both hotel guests and condo residents.

The render on this one seems to get better looking over time.

I don't care for 9th & Stewart's or Hill7s design as far as what I've seen in the renderings. Hopefully the real things turn out better.
