What exactly are those six transparent floors in the thinnest, tallest part of the MB Hydro building?

Part of the ventilation system, Solar/Thermal Chimney. Draws air in/out of the structure. When it's cold it draws air in and heats it for uses in the building. When it's warm it vents hot air from the building cooling it.

We don't see the Northern lights in the city that often, but this year it has been happening a lot.

Nice pics. You made an ugly part of Richmond look pretty ethereal in those shots.

Fun fact: that Pier 73 restaurant is in the hotel that Air Canada sends people it bumps off of flights connecting through Vancouver. The $20 voucher gets you about 2/3 of one of the worst steak dinners you'll ever eat in your life.

Clayton Perry is the photographer. I'm just a Flickr cherry picker.

Hmm, interesting. I may not want to eat there, but I wouldn't mind having a coffee on their outside deck.

Love the old commerce court.

Also, always wondered why the British never jumped on board with the skyscraper trend. Granted London and a few other cities had highrises and some pretty tall/impressive office tower, but nothing over 20 floors, and not in great quantity. Maybe they weren't needed, or desired?

Perhaps it was a nouveau rich thing to do for Americans and the money in Britain weren't ones to take up fads that were popular in the US.

In the early 20th century, Europe did not have the same kind of growth as America did. Skyscrapers were probably frowned upon by Europeans - so they probably had some height limits like we do in Montreal.

Coquitlam seems like quite a massive area. Is this near Port Moody perhaps?

Love those mountains in the background in Montreal. If only Longueuil would look nicer...
