Ok guys, I was down at the gateway of my class. I took plenty of pictures of this area, mainly because of the viaduct, but I had this in mind too.

I also got some of other developments under construction. Ill have to post all this later tonight, because I have a class.

I can't believe you aren't uploading those pics during class. You could simply pretend to be taking notes on your laptop.

I regrettably inform you that my camera has imploded.

No not really, now I just have to remember how to do this. I would have brought my laptop but it was German class, and you just don't do that in German. I dunno, hold on

Update on some Salt Lake projects. Ah, T-mac, you totally stole my thunder, I had a feeling that someone was going to do this at the same time.

I was way to lazy and cold to get of the train, so here is 222 south main

More of that ugly building, still on the train

Facade from the train

Trax to the hub

New station

Gateway Office

I took these because I realized that I like the Gateway's first floor, not above. There is more variation and rock on the lower part

Hold on I have more

Here is some of the location of the Hyatt, the Gateway offices, and of course the Viaduct.

Office building will be right here

Hyatt will be over here

ewwww its the viaduct, yuck

Its so old, rusty and ugly

Imagine a new bridge, with restaurants, viewing points of the city, flight boards for the airport, transfer points, museums, culture, everything Salt Lake, Television screens, civic space, a destination

This is the commuter rail lines by the viaduct

There you have it!

Great Picks Stevena07,!!! I'm having a creative brainstorm just looking at them this morning.

This corridor has the potential to be something great in the next few years

would like to see them move that sub-station and put some mixed use in there

Nice shots of Gateway Five, It has actually turned out to be a fairly attractive building, (even though it's another beige clone)

I agree with you 07, I've always said that Gateway has one of the more attractive and interesting street levels. I just would like to see them go in at a future date and add something to those upper levels of the residential towers, to give them more texture. They're too bland as they are now.

I'm excited about the sight-line that the new Gateway Six is going to create here.

You know, I would bet alot of forumers, such as Future Mayor or Urbanboy could do something pretty cool to the underbelly of this beast. Something in the 'Grand Parisian or Italianate Style.'

Good move for Salt Lake. Boise has attractive green recycle bins scattered around their downtown and I have always wondered why SLC hasn't had any. This is great

I was a German major up at the U, and...yeah. You just don't do that in German.

Getting my Masters in Educational Technology and Instructional Design however...we totally do that.

Yeah, sidewalk recycling bins in Salt Lake City are long overdue. And

"The City Council asked the administration to study whether pedestrian recycling bins would be useful in other commercial areas, such as 900 East and 900 South in Sugar House."

I'd argue that right now, they'd get more use in Sugarhouse and 9th/9th (or even 15th/15th) than Downtown, simply because there are more pedestrians there. eh. Maybe not. Gateway needs 'em.

they are installing the signage on top of Walker Center right now. Just thought everyone would want to know. Looks like it will be fairly tall.

update on some Redevelopment Agency Purchases.

The RDA is looking at purchasing the Howa properties highlighted in Orange. They are also looking into purchasing the little lot with the "subject" label on it. Sounds to me like they are stockpiling together a good amount of land just north of the Intermodal hub.

Interesting, I wonder what they're planning. Is the RDA only involved in residential or do they work on commercial and office projects as well? I could see a mixed use project of residential and ground floor retail working here. Though I would like to see some other "attraction" type development in the Gateway area, such as the living planet aquarium (damn you Tom Dolan and Sandy in general) or (I know it's wishful thinking but an NFL stadium). It's one of the only areas close to downtown that still has large undeveloped parcels available. Of course there is always "Earl's parking lot".
