Any idea what this small project is on 9th and Myrtle? Maybe it's just an interior remodel but it is being gutted.

Not sure what that is. I've seen the crane up for awhile.

Here's a nice, very recent shot of downtown that I found. See if you can find all of the projects under construction:

Also, a nice recent vlog of Boise:

Thanks for the photos.

There is going to be nearly 250 living units within a block of each other when the Vanguard and the two buildings at 6th and Grove are completed. Add in all of the units in the buildings under construction across Front Street in the Central Addition and the dynamics of east downtown will forever change for the better.

Does anyone have the total number of living units under construction in the Central Addition?

I drove through downtown the other day. A few observations:

- the Vanguard looks to be active again. Crane is up and people were on the site working.
- Home2Suites looks like it's getting closer to finished
- The CarTee looks stagnant; doesn't look like there's been much progress for a few weeks now
- Park Place and Caddis are coming along nicely; looks like Park Place has topped out and Caddis is close
- 11th and Idaho will be nice when completed; it fills in a gap I the skyline driving into downtown from the connector

I think there were two or three other proposals for Central Addition, but there's no activity on the empty lots.

The recent news of Concordia closing also makes me wonder if any developers would be interested in that lot. Would be nice to see a higher, mixed-use development on that property.

looks good. some of those street shots are hardly recognizable compared just a few years ago.

saw that they approved the Pink Tree as the public art for the park next to 11th and Idaho. I liked the concept but would've preferred a light yellow to be more summery.

These Are America’s 10 Fittest Cities
By Marty Munson
Jul 14, 2020

Quote:
To be among the Fittest Cities in the American Fitness Index, compiled by the American College of Sports Medicine and the Anthem foundation, its citizens don’t only need to rank high in doing healthy behaviors. The city has to help them out, too, with infrastructure that supports and encourages healthy behaviors—like parks, farmer’s markets, and recreational facilities—as well as good air quality and a low pedestrian fatality rate.

The metrics also reflect the percent of people who consume three or more vegetables and two or more fruits per day, as well as how people rated their physical and mental health.
The top ranked cities of 2020:
1. Arlington, VA
2. Seattle, WA
3. Minneapolis, MN
4. Madison, WI
5. San Francisco, CA
6. Washington, DC
7. Irvine, CA
8. Denver, CO
9. Boise, ID
10.Boston, MA

The transformation is underway on 8th Street between Bannock and State to remove traffic lanes and add a protected bike lane and wider sidewalks to be more like 8th Street between Main and Bannock.

I have posted more in the Transportation Thread.

Lazy Hazy Sunday

Another weekend, more photos
I'm not sure if the peeps in Denver and Salt Lake are enduring the smoke from California and Oregon like we are here in Boise.
The air is thick and heavy and of course smells like smoke from wildfires. Hopefully this blows out soon.

I'm excited to see how those projects on Grove transform that area. There will still be surface parking lots to be developed, too... hopefully the north half of the Home2Suites will become a nice high-rise.

here's a recent image from CCDC's Facebook page that shows what I mean:

New senior housing/retail/parking/office proposal near the library (image from Boisedev):

not much of a design, really. pretty uncreative. wish they went thinner and taller so it wasn't just a wall of windows, but it does add good density and housing and more retail options to that area which will be nice.

That will be some nice density right there.

Also on Boisedev website:

Ada County median home price breaks $400,000 barrier for first time

Absolutely insane.
