Your own little urban oasis in the heart of downtown St. John's.

If I were you, I would ignore the front of your house, and the drug den across the street, and concentrate on the back of your house, the back yard and the adjacent public park.

A back yard can be a tonic for the soul. I cut my grass last evening, and it knocked the stuffing out of me, but, sitting in my gazebo afterwards, hydrating, and listening to the waterfall in my fishpond made everything all better again.

This upcoming heatwave looks absolutely brutal. Lake Ontario may be our saving grace and keep us out of record territory, as our highs are projected around 32-33. Montreal/Ottawa and SW Ontario could be hitting 36-38. That extra few degrees is the difference between tolerable and intolerable, personally.

Today is refreshing after yesterday's heat - a quick but pretty intense thunderstorm rolled through right around midnight. Currently 20 going up to a seasonal high of 24, with some more thunderstorms possible.

Sounds like it will be a nice week out East!

And here we have a low coming though this weekend bringing a whopping high of 12c and drizzle on Sunday

Supposed to hit 20c and sunshine today so we will have to enjoy it before Juneuary arrives this weekend.

Ugh. I feel for you out guys and gals out in southern Ontario. We used to get heatwaves in Shanghai and Seoul that were in the mid-to-high 30s, and it's absolutely awful with the humidity. It sucks the life right out of you. I always made my escape to BC during those summer months.

Beautiful day along False Creek yesterday. Reached 21c in the area.

And some aerials of the area

I am moving next month. Of the houses we’ve viewed, it’s the older ones with large landscaped backyards with a few trees that were the nicest. We’ve seen modern houses which had a tiny square of grass in the back with neighbouring houses overlooking it from every side, a few metres away. It didn’t feel any different than the townhouse we live in currently and you couldn’t even put a pool in there if you wanted. I understand the reasons why our suburbs look like this now, densification and all, but for us it was a hard pass.

24C with a humidex of 26 and mainly sunny. A bit of a breeze but overall a nice day.

Low of 18C this morning.

The warmspot were Bow Island, AB and Greenwood, NS at 29.1C

Warmest low was Burlington Piers, ON at 17.4C

Point Pelee and Harrow both ended with an official low of 20.2C. Only fitting Canada's most southern weather station would record the first tropical low on the year.

A mixed bag of cloud and sun (mostly cloud) and a little light drizzle here and there.
It got sunny in the late afternoon and evening.

Friday’s high at Vancouver Harbour was 16 C, the low was 12 C.

Perfect yet again!

Itching to go downtown but the cars aren't off Water Street until June 20 so I'm waiting until then for my spring downtown high, ha!

16C and raining in Moncton at 9 AM. The temperature will stay steady all day.

The heat dome coming this week should be interesting The predicted high in Moncton on Thursday will be 32-34C (depending on whether you believe EC or TWN). The humidity will also be very high, so the humidex could be off the charts.

TWN predicts a humidex of 41 that day!!!

Significant heat event brewing for this coming work week. Ottawa forecasting very tropical overnight lows. Monday: High 30C Low 19C / Tuesday: High 34C Low 22C / Wednesday: High 35C Low 24C / Thursday: High 33C Low 22C. I love the sultry muggy nights we can get in the summer here but it can be dangerous for people with no A/C

Sunny and 22 (humidex 27) at 11am. Will cloud over this afternoon, with rain pushing in near dinner time.

Looks like St. John's will get in on some of the heat action everyone else will see by mid week. Models showing temperatures between the mid and high 20s for Wednesday, and especially Thursday. I'd imagine parts of central NL would likely break 30.

Will our lows be tolerable at least? I have no AC, only fans Not looking forward to any hot overnights and hoping we get none.

Lows in the mid teens, par the course for summer here. Doesn't look like there'll be any balmy high teen overnight lows next week. Humidity will be high though so that may not feel great even if it does cool down a little.
