The project, which would be completed in two phases, includes renovating the existing 11-story and 6-story structures on the west side of Broadway, along with a parking garage and residential building on the east side of Broadway, said Mark Heffron, the managing director of design and construction for Cedar Street Co.

It looks like they're filling in two vacant lots on the east side – one on the corner, and the lot adjacent to the parking garage.

Yes, please build that now!! Looks great, I didn't think they would totally reclad the building but it looks great. And the new infills are better than I would of imagined, and great density too. Just keep doing that all the way along N. Broadway!!

It would be great if this kind of density on broadway could be tied into putting a subway where the redline is. An expanded tax base for service improvements.

A red line subway would require significant stop elimination which the effected neighborhoods would have none of when it last came up as a possibility several years ago. We just need to get the rebuild done and build the shit out of TOD all along Broadway.

Would have loved to have seen the line as a Broadway subway

Can anyone recall if there's a proposal for this building in Motor Row? http://bit.ly/1RJ3WQf

I seem to remember there was an extended-hotel of some kind proposed for it, but I'm blanking now. I was down there the other day scouting for a project and noticed some bricks had been thrown on the ground by the south end. I believe it was designed by Albert Kahn.

They were one floor from topping out when I walked by yesterday.

Looks like Wells St. in Old Town is continuing to densify with a new 7 story building and updated plans for the 14 story hotel(technically a skyscraper): http://www.chicagoarchitecture.org/2...-the-old-town/

^Sweet! Speaking of 7-story buildings, the old Vitamin Shoppe at Diversey and Clark is on the chopping block. Slated to replace it, as well as the shops to the east along Diversey, is a 2-story retail with 5 additional floors of residential. Work is supposed to begin in July.

Nice. Speaking of which - there's another 6 story building with tens of units planned for near Weiland & North - which is a block west of Wells.
