Aon and US Bank Tower are in that shot too. However it looks like Bruce Banner's lab is in DTLA with Wilshire Grand showing up at the 00:23 mark.

Kind of funny seeing them make a super city of New York, Chicago and LA buildings all mashed together. Pretty cool stuff!

Final bit of core jump underway (pics a bit soft as I didn't have any zoom lens with me today)

Not a great shot by any means but it shows Wilshire Grand's place in the skyline - from the 105 on February 5th:

So that should be the final height of the core, no?

Someone on SSC said that the crane operator was taking down the formwork, so that is it for the core.

i believe it has to be. the core i think tops out around 840 feet, give or take. Now they'll take down the formwork, finish the last few floors of steel, then start on the sail. Were in for the home stretch. The glazing is making good time. they may have it near the top before the sail starts at this rate.

As an aside, I went over to the Salesforce Tower thread to see how that tower is progressing. They are OBSESSED with the Wilshire Grand. Theories about how Salesforce will add height and such abound. Its quite a shitshow over there. Its basically a few people actually talking bout the project interspersed with fanatics making up facts and insulting WG. Oh San Fran, gotta luv em.

They certainly are, I was surprised at the attention. I don't agree with spires and Freedom Tower is a travesty (as far as height goes). But I don't get to make the rules , so they need to knock it off

If they wanted tallest west of Chicago, they should have done the 1200 ft version.

True. If WG were declared 2nd tallest, I wouldn't care. Its just a well designed tower of 934' with a 166' spire. I like both towers. (Wilshire Grand has an edge for me due to it having a more interesting overall design IMO )
But its a great thing for both locales.

But it still counts as tallest in the west at 1,100' until someone goes to 1,101' As for now lots of the tallest and near tallest count even if there spire is a pipe form such as trump Chicago and the top of the BK. 5' diameter pipes. There are some that are 2' in diameter that count. As long as they are considered part of the design they count.
