It's fitting that Cobb's tallest tower won't be for humans, but for elevators. LOL

Georgia has really been getting a lot of love from German companies. First Porsche. Then Mercedes. Now Thyssenkrupp.

Yes and that tower is going to look badass on TV from Braves games.

I wonder if any of the elevators have a glass wall and face the stadium

8 West proposed on Westside

$150 million mixed-use project underscores more big changes for Atlanta's Westside

Quote:
The overall mixed-use project, to be called 8 West, will feature 175,000 square feet of office space, 10,000 square feet of retail, 264 apartments developed by Trammell Crow Residential and a 680-space parking deck. Existing retailers fronting the development will be blended into 8 West including Bocado, Bartaco, Arden’s Garden and A Ma Maniere. Hathaway Gallery will also be relocated to the project and will provide artwork for the new building.

Consider that 8 West and two close-by developments, the $140 million Interlock at Howell Mill and 14th and $120 million Star Metals offices at Howell Mill, Brady Avenue and 11th, could all be under construction next year. Atlantic and Gateway believe they could be the first to break ground.

Excellent location for more offices and residences, especially as they're keeping the one story restaurants along Howell Mill I LOVE seeing new offices and residences going up in this neighborhood. So many of the restaurants are great and I want more people to support their business and keep them afloat!

I would enjoy if they turned the surface parking in front of Howel Mill and Marietta to a pedestrian plaza instead, though!

Private dorms off Tech Pkwy is under construction, Broadstone Yards is now leasing, and similarly to this development, star metals is technically two developments (both have apartments and office components)

Amazing. Howell Mill should be very walkable once all of the projects in the pipeline are complete. Gonna need some transpo alternatives.

I had the exact same thought last week. This needs to happen for that strip to truly transform.

Yep. 10th & Howell Mill is only apartments and retail while the other three have a substantial office component.

Land development permit was issued this week so they are wasting no time. I still haven't seen a rendering of this one.

Another angle of 8th West.

Developer gets green light for TOD at Peachtree Center MARTA Station

I love this and I hope the property across Peachtree Street gets developed.

Quote:
A developer seeking to do a transit-oriented development at the Peachtree Center MARTA Station received a green light Thursday at an agency committee meeting.

Amanda Rhein, MARTA’s senior director of TOD and real estate, said the developer intends to build three stories of commercial space on the site – a total of 16,000 square feet. It also is exploring building an additional four to five stories of residential above the commercial space.

it's awesome seeing this place reaching for something more - getting to see some new business sub-districts get created from scratch (like the highrises planned at o4w) or seriously come into their own (west midtown)
