Tropical lows on the shores on Hudson's Bay, and we haven't even reached the summer solstice yet. What's wrong with this picture???

Currently 16C in Moncton at 10 AM and mostly cloudy. Up to 24C this afternoon.

It will be a wet weekend ahead.

Slight morning haze in Vancouver, 13°C, forecast to be 24°C and sunny today.

For Windmill Palms the reproductive organs are the first part of the plant to be damaged by cold, so in some spots you can have a damaged palm that still grows fronds and looks healthy, but won’t produce flowers / fruit.

Also, I saw a story that this year the last two of the Halifax / Dartmouth public palms have died. This may be hard to believe, but I don’t take that as good news. It was a neat experiment and it would have been nice for a least one location or two too have survived / continued.

Those things were always a very controversial discussion topic on here. It's probably not a good omen for the Moncton palm experiment either.

The Moncton palm is still alive, but just barely hanging on. They keep it well boxed in the wintertime.

After a crappy weekend/early week (high of only 16 on Monday), the long term looks fantastic starting Thursday. TWN has every day at either 26 or 27 and basically all sun. Bring on real summer!

Went to the superette. Passed a tourist on the stairs who was struggling with her luggage. Offered to help, terrified her lol French accent. Then I stopped trying to control my breath and, between gasps, said well can ya help me? Luckily she laughed and relaxed lol

This has been the worst spring I can remember here. It's been brutal from the beginning of May to now. Lots of rain, fine, but also lots of days where the temp has struggled to reach the high teens. Constant, raging winds have ruined the days that have had okay warmth. The worst part is it doesn't look like it's getting better anytime soon. The 14-day forecast has only two days reaching 20 degrees with the warmest at only 22. Tomorrow's HIGH is 8-10 (!!) depending on which forecast you check. I have yet to eat dinner on my deck, it's either too cold or too windy. I have just a couple of small sprouts in my garden, it was full by this time last year.

After a very mild winter, this spring has been awful. I hate it. I hope summer is hot as hell.

Despite the very poor past 2 weeks, St. John's has entered it's blossom season. The cherry and flowering crab trees have blossomed. Only about 3.5 months behind Vancouver.

The Moncton one is really pushing the envelope! I don't know why they don't start somewhere a little milder, maybe Yarmouth.

22C with a humidex of 25 and a mix between storms and sunshine. The day started with full clear skies before having the first round (most severe one) at around noon. Proper storm with lightning and thunder. Round 2 was around 5PM but that one was much lighter.

Low of 17C last night.

The warmspot was... you guessed it... Kuujjuarapik, QC at 33.9C. They now hold the top 2 warmest temperatures in the country.

Warmest low was Point Pelee, ON at 17.1C.

Interesting phenomena that prevented Kuujjuarapik from recording the first tropical low in the country.
Around midnight, the wind switched from the SE (so from the interior of the province) to W (from frigid Hudson Bay) and as a result temperature fell 7C in one hour.
Then at 4AM, the wind switched to the SE again, and temperature skyrocketed.

Well, I'm happy for all the people and visitors that are going to be hitting the beaches this weekend and sailing out of Vancouver Harbour on cruise ships.
Right now the smell of BBQ is wafting through the neighbourhood.

Sunny, warm, dry and breezy.
Friday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 23 C, the low was 9 C.
