Exactly why I dislike modern skyscrapers with mirror finishes. What's the point of all that height if they simply disappear?

True Scraper-Geeks wanna see their skyline grow!

And you know what? The panes of glass right above the base -- didn't they start to clad 1 WTC at the end of 2010? So, these panes now have 2.5 YEARS' worth of crud on them. I'm really looking forward to the cleansing, I know it will be epic!!

Actually, I think they washed the glass around the anniversary using baskets. I remember Carlos posting pictures of them.

Huh, I visited NYC then but didn't see that. Plus I wouldn't join here for another 5 months I'll have to look back and see if I can find these posts! OK- so 1.5 years of crud, we know for sure

Otherwise, while I am a bit disappointed that they're going to take down some of the extenstions from the spire (because that's what IMO gave the structure what I would've called its "New Yorkishness"), there shouldn't be enough noticeable difference for me to change my oft-registered opinion.
In fact, viewing the subtractions as a sort of "clean-up" of the spire might do some good...I'll hafta see.

It'll obviously further help matters when the work on the satellite rings is done, too.
Don't mean to be nosey, but what exactly are you 2 referring to when you talk about 150G disappearing in the clear blue sky, are you talking about the building or the something in the way you make your up-close animated renders?

The glass is so reflective that on a clear day the reflection matches the color of the sky and it looks invisible beside the window frames.

Awesome progress! Pretty soon, all that will be left, is 'zipping up that "zipper" '. Up the side of the building where the construction elevator is.

That's always been my impression of the building, from since it was first revealed. Similar in a way to the Jin Mao...

Thanks for the compliment, but these are just renders.
This guy here has pictures of the real deal. I'll post them in response to a similar question.

Well this is a Durst property, so I'd be surprised if it didn't.

One thing that's been on my mind throughout this whole "is-it-1776-or-isn't-it" conversation.

Not so much of a willie-measuring contest as it is masturbation.
