This is METALLIZED STEEL

The larger sections below the square sectioned section 316 are metalized because they can't fit in a bath. The sections 316 and 317 do fit in the bath and were treated with a process called hot dip galvanization. The beacon is framed with stainless steel for an almost infinite lifespan. One can be made to look darker depending on many variables. The point is this, the reason that the last two sections are a different color is because they were coated using a different technique. I hope that this helps out you guys. Its not a question of laziness. The metalized coating wears off more quickly. If the parts would have fit in the bath, the whole thing would have been galvanized.

The LED floodlights will be placed on the platforms above section 309. Below that they will be placed on the communication rings and aimed at the spire.

Take a look at this.

It's the view where the spire lines up with the apex of the triangular facade (N,S,E,W) that it really adds to the building and the impression of height IMO.

The radome panels were designed to be replaceable, so I don't see why not. I'd imagine they'd just have to temporarily remove the guy wires in order to put cranes up to install the panels, however it's highly unlikely they'd do it in the near future, if ever, under the current ownership. If a new owner takes over someday, and that's the way they want it, then it could very well happen. I wouldn't anticipate any changes for several decades, though.

I simply must beg forgiveness for this slight deviation; but the way 150G simply disappears into the clear blue sky in those last two panos is simply flabberghasting...........
Otherwise, while I am a bit disappointed that they're going to take down some of the extenstions from the spire (because that's what IMO gave the structure what I would've called its "New Yorkishness"), there shouldn't be enough noticeable difference for me to change my oft-registered opinion.
In fact, viewing the subtractions as a sort of "clean-up" of the spire might do some good...I'll hafta see.

It'll obviously further help matters when the work on the satellite rings is done, too.

Sorry if this has been covered already, but what's the purpose of the structure being erected on the east side of the base of WTC1? New temporary unloading docks?

Excuse me if this question has been answered on here before at some point but how will the fins open and will they stay open? I am guessing that it is mechanical?
