The larger sections below the square sectioned section 316 are metalized because they can't fit in a bath. The sections 316 and 317 do fit in the bath and were treated with a process called hot dip galvanization. The beacon is framed with stainless steel for an almost infinite lifespan. One can be made to look darker depending on many variables. The point is this, the reason that the last two sections are a different color is because they were coated using a different technique. I hope that this helps out you guys. Its not a question of laziness. The metalized coating wears off more quickly. If the parts would have fit in the bath, the whole thing would have been galvanized.[/QUOTE]
