What we need is a bunch of guys that can play as a team, and not all try to be the superstar. If we can roll 4 lines and have that, then good, otherwise we need role players. Canada has the talent to ice 4 teams easy, so no matter who is chosen some will be upset...

I thought we learned this lesson leaving Crosby off the 2006 team, making space for the likes of Kris Draper.

How stupid does that look in 2025?

You obviously did not watch the Olympics in 1998 or 2006, when Canada tried that, and failed miserably.

Honestly in all the teams of Superstars that Canada has put together over the years, I've never seen guys do anything other than contribute to the best of their abilities. Egos disappear. I can't think of an example where it didn't happen.

Yikes.

Mark Messier is someone I'd still put on my team. The guy just leads. Him and Sakic. Two players I would always pick to wear a C.

A solid win against a struggling Preds.

97 with his 14th career hatty, Nuge with 500apples and Ingram with one of the saves of the year and a solid game.

It was good a good solid win, but I feel like we're still trying to get our wheels going. Nice to see Ingram look good though.

Question: I will be in Montreal in 2 weeks and will be going to the Canadiens game against Minnesota. My question is, if I go to a concession stand and, say, want a hot dog, will there be people at the concession stand who know English, or will I have to learn "I'd like a hot dog" in French?

Ask for a hot dog and they'll give you a pretzel.

Joking aside, you'll be fine in English but a small effort will earn you some endearment.

I remember years ago attending an Expos game with a friend who thought he would be cool and try ordering in french at the concession.

“Une coup de glaze du fraise”

The young girl on the other side of the counter shot back with a somewhat disgusted look on her face in perfect english:

“So you want a strawberry ice cream”.

As long as we choose really good defence because our goaltending would get pretty thin partway into team 2.

Jets up 3-1 with 15 shots and lose 4-3 to the Oil.

97-29-93 with some unreal passing tonight and 97 with a ridiculous goal.

The Jets are in a deep dark place right now... ouch.

Yep. The Jets were being outplayed heavily, and were lucky to be up 3-1. Out of all the teams in the NHL, they are the most surprising to me. I was expecting them to have a drop in points, but not to dead last.

Boston!
Leafs!

The Oilers game was fun, back and forth, pretty bad reffing with 97 getting manhandled more than a few times without calls yet again, it was Scorey Perry's return (got a nice bit of applause and partial standing), but most importantly it was Drai's 1000th point celebration. Nice to see his family there, GF and PUP!

I'm going to watch my first Leafs game tonight. TBH, I haven't watched any sports since game 7 with the Jays. I just looked at the standings, expecting the Leafs to be way behind the top spot in our division, and we're not. The only team in the league that seems to be having a standout season is the Avalanche.

The poor Jets are 33 points back from them. And the Cannucks just suck again. If the playoffs were today, only 2 Canadian teams would make it in. Come on, Canada, let's do better! Still plenty of Hockey left.
