Agribition kicks off in Regina with full barns, free admission and new features

By Jacob Bamhour

The nation’s largest livestock show opened its doors on Monday.

Canadian Western Agribition runs until Saturday at Regina’s REAL District, featuring a show floor packed with animals, trade exhibits and a fan-favourite rodeo.
Agribition CEO Shaun Kindopp said nearly every major attraction is back for 2025, including the four-night professional rodeo, the livestock shows and a bustling trade floor featuring more than 400 exhibitors. He said the show features something for everybody, including live music and great shopping.

“You don’t need to come from ag,” Kindopp said. “There’s a lot of entertainment.”

Behind the scenes, Kindopp said preparations for the show span the entire year, with 11 full-time staff members and a large team of volunteers working hard to put all the pieces together.

“There’s a lot of planning, but we’re definitely ready to get going,” he said.

Regina mayor Chad Bachynski says he does not support the closure of the Regina Floral Conservatory.

Or, for that matter, a fire hall.

In a video posted to Facebook, Bachynski says council has been presented with scenarios that, if every one was approved by council, would lead to a mill rate reduction of five per cent.

But he says he’s against going that far.

He is right if anything they should be planning a brand new conservatory

Regina approves demolition of historic Credit Foncier Building, façade to be stored

By Martin Oldhues
Dec 4, 2025 | 9:00 AM
REGINA — A building standing in Regina for over a century will soon be demolished.

In a unanimous vote on Wednesday, Regina city council approved the demolition of the Credit Foncier Building located at 2184 12th Avenue, while preserving the façade and any significant heritage features.

First constructed in 1911, the Credit Foncier Building remained one of the few structures in Regina built before World War I.

Its name was inspired by the Credit Foncier Franco-Canadien Mortgage Company Ltd., which occupied the space from 1912 until 1988.

Western Limited purchased the property in 1988 and utilized the space until 2023 after the Gordon Block fire, which was the primary cause of extensive damage to the property.

Adrian Burns, president of Western Limited, described having constant challenges in the 26 months since the fire occurred, including vandalism.

“The unoccupied building quickly became the target for theft, including things like the beautiful brass railings in the interior stairwell.”

Burns also mentioned that the building lost gas, water and electricity after the demolition of the Gordon Building, and the insurance company wouldn’t cover the
I say good riddance to this piece of junk. It’s been sitting there doing nothing for so many years and it’s so ugly. Why the hell do you want to keep it for? Get rid of it.

Considering the US has no ability to produce reasonably priced potash, he is talking out of his Ass. He thinks you can just "manufacture it". Interesting that he doesn't mention tariffing Russian and Belorussian potash.

Regina's $6.8M subsidy to Costco could have been avoided, says auditor
REGINA — A $6.8-million subsidy the City of Regina is paying Costco could have been avoidable had a provincial Crown corporation properly collaborated on the retail giant's plans for its new location, Saskatchewan's auditor said Tuesday.
The Opposition NDP has accused Premier Scott Moe's Saskatchewan Party government of pitting the city and the Global Transportation Hub against one another.

New Democrats have called on the province to reimburse the city for the $6.8-million Costco bill.

"(This) should have never happened," Joan Pratchler, a Regina NDP legislature member, told reporters Tuesday. "Stay in your lane, provincial government."

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 9, 2025.
