The quality is always better if you download them from the site plan. PDFs really lose a lot when posted on here as an image file.

New and more detailed elevations were released. It lost nine floors and the height was reduced from 766' to 691'.

Was really hoping for something over 700’. This will further our skyline’s plateau appearance, but I guess I can’t be too upset over a new tower the size of The Independent.

Perennial I is listed as 628 ft, so this one is still taller at least.

Please tell me the parking garage levels are going to be screened better than that! I can't see how this would even meet the minimal standards we currently have in the LDC and Urban Design Guidelines.

This is quite disappointing. And, the design seems to be rather bland too - when compared to the proposed Perennial Tower 1. Hopefully, they don't dilute that tower too.

I don’t mind the height lost but the original design seemed to be more in line with Perennial.

One thing that's interesting to me is that if you look at the south elevation, you see two solid walls rising the height of the building -- I'm guessing these are the elevator cores? Due to the southern setback these are probably centered on the lot, but will be offset from most of the tower. It has the potential to be either a pretty ugly feature, if it's exposed concrete or poverty siding, or one that will give the building some substance and character (crossing my fingers for the wood-grain facade we're seeing on its twin).

I actually think the balconies on this one will match its twin better, the horizontal bands playing off one another. Again, hopefully we're seeing similar facade treatments, and the balconies get the same wood-grain trim.

And while the height reduction is of course disappointing, its width (from N/S views) is going to give it a substantially bigger presence on the skyline than the Austonian or Indy.

Also, I'm glad there's a gap between the two towers, it will be interesting to peer through from the east and see Frost peeking it head through.

I guess the only reason it’s disappointing is because we saw the leaks. Had we never seen those, we’d probably be pretty ecstatic about a new 690 footer.

I just noticed the bridge to Phase 1 at 217’. That’ll be a pretty interesting feature. I wonder how long it will be and if it will be open to the public.

I may have been a little exaggerative, but it seems like a lot of the newly announced or under construction towers are coming in within about a hundred feet of each other. But hey, if I’m complaining about an almost 700 ft tower then things are pretty good.

Back when I lived in Austin, the tallest tower was either Frost or 360, and they had only just started on the Austonian.
