They're a franchise the prices and product are determined by corporate so not much can be done there. I enjoy them but agree pricing is a bit high and product can be hit or miss for freshness.

Now working on the 4th floor of Tannery Place North.

At six storeys, I wonder if they can finish pouring the concrete before the winter? I think they should be able to.

Is it just me or does TP North seems to be going up extremely faster than TP South?

I remember thinking how long it was taking when they were building TP south. This one is moving along much quicker. I wonder what's made the difference?

Having the site ready to go night have helped. At TP South they had to prep the whole site, build the parking lot etc.

About 2-3 months ago, there was a really good listing from Cushman & Wakefield regarding the Junction Urban Village. There were 3 parcels of land that were available for lease, build-to-suit, and investment or purchase opportunities.

I know we wouldn't hear anything until there was something concrete to disclose, but it sure would be interesting to know what response they received. And of course these things take time, but I wonder if anything is being worked on behind the scenes at this time?

They are starting the sixth (and final) floor at Tannery Place North. I will wait about a week, and then post an updated photo of the progress on this building. Things are however going at a blazing speed compared to Tannery Place South.

You can see a bit of Tannery Place North in the background.

So far, the Junction Urban Village has been more successful than a lot of other projects around town in terms of attracting ground level retail/commercial enterprises. I imagine the location on Vaughan Harvey Blvd, directly across from the Sobeys plaza helps.

When the ground floor retail/commercial tenants decide to lease space at The Junction, I wonder how much value they place on the fact that there'll be residential tenants in the same & adjacent buildings. And as plans evolve, it's highly likely that there'll be more than two apartment buildings constructed in the village. Those are all built in potential customers for these businesses. Even Goodlife Fitness will probably benefit from all the people living there.

Coming down Main Street this building has a huge impact on the streetscape. Tannery Place South is set back from the road a little more because of the old right of ways that were in place pre Vaughan Harvey extension. Because of the setback it has less of an impact.

Very unfortunate. Their St-George location is a great looking building and very well integrated in a core neighborhood.

The Junction is a suburban development through-and-through masquerading as an "urban village" and cannibalizing downtown. First Freshii, now Uni. Even Yuzu Sushi would have been a great addition to St-George. I won't hold my breath, but if Ashford's vision for the core is truly transformative and can become a destination, then it cannot happen soon enough.

I wonder how much the homeless situation has influenced theses businesses' decision to move out of the core.

I wonder the same thing. I would not be at all surprised if this is a big factor in some of these moves. We should be trying to avoid any further hollowing out of the core at all costs, but aggressive panhandling, drug use in plain view of passers-by, uninhibited vagrancy and encampments in store fronts does a lot to hinder a positive urban experience in the core..........
