Is this just the angle/lighting or does the garage cladding look less warped? At least it looks cleaner, even if it does have to be a monolithic monotony.

The only thing that comes to mind when looking at this building is that I appreciate the color scheme. Kinda stands out compared to the rest of the darker buildings downtown.

Maybe is just my OCD, but what’s with the garage cladding bottom ending at seemingly random heights? It’s certainly not contemporary, trendy, or whatever look they are going for, just annoyingly ugly. I mean even the corner doesn’t line up.

They'll come clean it up with an angle grinder once it's all finished, I'm sure.

it's the lighting. When the light hits it at an Angle you can still really tell how uneven it is. ( I walk past it multiple times a week )

As long as I'm being an ass about the finishes: The firewall sides of the garage were also a disaster. Not sure if it was expected, but most of the prefab concrete panels were damaged. Usually these walls are just concrete and low maintenance.... and often ugly. These were chipped ( chunks) and they have had to patch them and now paint those walls. It's another issue I would have if I was looking to buy there. How many corners were cut?

On a good note, one of the retail spaces is pretty large and gives me hope of another decent restaurant or Blue Grocery for the neighborhood .

Is it just me or are these cheap finishes just an Austin thing or nationwide? I don't notice this stuff in SA or LA ...at least not as much (my only main comparison cities right now).

You don’t notice it in SA because there’s so few towers going in sadly. Those that have, were done really nicely though!
Yes let’s pray they cut off the small discrepancies on bottom of the screening. It’s too small of a discrepancy to look intentional or modern

Ha, I even thought about an angle grinder! Just snap a line from one end to the other and go to town.

Yes, plenty. Especially in the south where there is heavy car culture.

You don't get this stuff in places that have the price points to not cheapen the design. Boston, Chicago, NYC (although NYC is large enough to have examples, I'm sure), etc., OR that don't have design commissions that actually scuttle projects if they get value engineered (San Antonio).
