Many drivers (of course not ALL) need to take off the blinders, and give a damn about the other vehicles around them. If other motorists want to go faster than you, move over and don't feel compelled to "police" their habits (whether good or bad) and do some form of self-imposed "traffic calming". Is it wrong to speed? Most times, yes...other times it's needed to safely pass slower moving vehicles quickly. I think that if fewer people cruised in the left lane and stopped taking 5km's to make a pass, there would be fewer bottlenecks, and they would actually not cause other drivers to do 140-160 to get around them (or pass on the right). Let me be clear, I'm not endorsing speeding...but I think that people that impede the flow of traffic need to be dealt with more frequently.

I'm one of the left lane hogs you're probably talking about. The problem is, particularly between Cobourg and Belleville, there's only two lanes each way but a lot of truck traffic, and the trucks are unable to go over 105 km/h, often slowing down to 95 km/h going up hills. I do not wish to be stuck behind them so I pass them, but I refuse to drive faster than 115 km/h, particularly as most of the times I am driving along there is on long weekends when there is a higher police presence. I am already providing a speed to the drivers behind me that is 15 km/h over the speed limit. If I'm impeding you, that's your problem, not mine. As long as I'm over the speed limit and am going faster than whoever is to my right, that's too bad for whoever is behind me - leave yourself extra time if you're in a rush. It is not my problem if they choose to drive at 140, they are making a choice that they are not compelled to make.
This issue particularly pisses me off in the winter, when road conditions necessitate slowing down. It's not okay to drive at 120 when it's slippery and visibility is poor - you might as well be drunk.
