It will be disappointing if there is no lighting behind the "wooden" slats and that area doesn't emit a glow at night. I can't imagine there wouldn't be, though.

The original soffit feature was supposed to light up at night.

Here's a look at the mostly windowless facade overlooking the Princess office building.

And Sunday is also a good day to get into the alley to see the back side.

The diagonal element in the building design cleverly frees it up from being constrained by, or clashing with, its funny neighbouring building. What could have been a clashing awkward hodge podge is instead a relaxed and eclectic design statement.

It also opens up views from the curved windows of the Princess Building down to the street, since those windows are setback.

Looks like its really coming together, really like that wood aesthetic.
Wonder if they have some sort of plan to prevent birds from nesting up there.

I don't think that's wood.

You can see from one of the images that those are probably metallic 'U' channels profiled, and attached together in segments, and I guess painted to have the look of wood, I suppose.

Using wood in exterior situations like that tends to get tricky with the weather and moisture treatment, the likelihood of warping and deformation regardless, fire protection and all that.

Which is all to say it would likely be much more expensive.

Besides which, it goes directly to your other query regarding nesting by birds which is much harder on channels like this - although it looks like they are employing some kind of mesh in between the channels to prevent birds from getting in between them from the exterior.

EDIT : I didn't see the previous page before I typed this. Looks like people already figured out it wasn't wood and the whole bird-nesting prevention mesh system.

That'll teach me.

At first I thought the glass in the top level was gone it was so clean and clear.

When I got below and looked up you could see it, though.

I think it would have been nicer if it were fritted up top.

I was just going to say how nice these two towers look together, but you are right about the fritted glass looking awful like that. Same with the bottom, like, why??

Those are a lot of misaligned panels.

The fritted ones up top are to hide the mechanical equipment, which arguably, don't need to be hidden.
The ones down below are to hide big structural concrete elements.
That's where the architects don't have any foresight in accommodating structural elements. Mirrored glass would have appeared uniform.

Looks good.
It distracts you from the fritted panels around the curves.
