Have any of you taken into consideration that the owners of big league probably know they copied Five guys... Its popular in Maine and they obviously decided to follow suit and allow people a chance to experience an interesting restaurant without having to travel to the border.

Oh, I'm sure that Big League knows exactly what they're doing. They are taking a bit of a risk though in copying Five Guys so closely.

There are differences between the two restaurants, but they are subtle (sports theme and wings on the menu for example) and if Five Guys wanted to, they could probably make things difficult for Big League. I don't really know if Big League is really at risk though, because they are not actually claiming to be Five Guys and their logo is entirely different from Five Guys.

I would assume that as long as Big League sticks to the Moncton market, they will likely be able to get away with what they are doing. If however they decide to franchise their concept and establish a region wide presence, then Five Guys might have more of an issue with what they're doing…….

This is what Cordova Realty has planned for that last available pad behind the RBC and Second Cup at the Gorge Rd/Mountain Rd intersection:

The Moncton North Community Centre, which is to built immediately behind Evergreen Park School, has taken a big step forward.

Funding was approved in the municipal budget (passed the other night) that would allow for design work in 2014 with construction to occur in 2015/16.

Anticipated opening would likely be in the fall of 2016.

Some Berry Mills road news.

I needed to visit the dump today and I heard that Maritime-Ontario is setting up shop on this massive piece of land in front of the Westmorland-Albert Solid Waste entrance.

As you can see from Google's newly updated images, the land is already cleared. I'm not sure if M-O is the only ones moving here, but they did create a new entrance to access this piece of land, visible at the North East part of he land.

Despite old rumours to the contrary, i heard yesterday through someone that works with the city, that day and ross was moving here. not sure if there is any truth to it.

Welcome to the forums!

So, regardless, it would appear that there will be a large trucking depot and storage facility built in front of the Westmorland-Albert regional landfill on Berry Mills Road.

I wonder if this could be a shared facility for both M-O and Day & Ross?

Welcome as well.

The land is definitely way too big for any one trucking company for around here. So the possibility of multiple tenants on this land is there.

Which makes me wonder, who owns or owned this parcel land and why did Westmorland Recycling needed to go all around the land to access their facility? You would think they could have negotiated a deal to make a straight road rather than zigzag around.

What's going in the other lot that was cleared on the south side of Berry Mills Rd across from the scrapyard?

Also, isn't that clearing (and the dump) outside of city limits?

If that part of Berry Mills rd will be home to a major trucking depot they will definitely need to upgrade and signalize the Zack rd and dump road intersection. With trucks turning left out of there towards the TCH it will be very hazardous. That area is already fairly treacherous just with the amount of traffic turning in and out of the dump. I would even think the whole speed limit on the Berry Mills rd should be dropped to at least 90 considering how developed the area has become over the past few years.

The Sherwin-Williams paint store in the Trinity Dental Group strip mall at the corner of Mountain and Trinity is now stocked and looks ready to open……..

Is there enough support for the city to expand its limits north and west? Perhaps to Briggs Cross Road or to the old highway interchange with Berry Mills?

They would be moving from Caledonia, right?

Is it possible to post these plans on SSP? I think people here would be interested in seeing what they look like......

How about the rumours of Day & Ross moving to Berry Mills Road?

Architect 4 is designing the building, not sure i could post these here (copyright?).

It is a smaller version of the Mckenson and Kent Distribution Center (Both were designed by Architect 4)

I don't think that would be a problem. If the image is freely visible on the web (not behind any security features of any kind), then I think the image can be safely posted here. You should credit where the photo is copied from though.

At the very least, it would certainly be appropriate to provide a link for the photo.

M-O is going right in front of Westmorland waste on Barry Milles Road. Actual address will be 11 Bill Slater Drive.

This will only take about half of the available space between Barry Mills and the road leading to the dump. The other piece of land (Not being developed under this project / PID 70568720) could be the rumored spot for Day and Ross, although i have no proof or indication that it's true.

I also question why two competitors would want to be next to one a other.

I don't know how common it is for independent contractor drivers to work with these guys, but it would make sense for them to be close by each other.

Clusters of competitors is actually pretty common. Banks, gas stations, stores, car dealers all tend to bunch up.

And really, in the big scheme of things it's not as though there's a difference between being next door, and having a competitor a kilometre away (Armour) or just on the other side of town (Midland and Sunbury)

I don't think the time has come yet for the city to consider expanding it's boundaries any further to the west. In any event, westward expansion is somewhat blocked by the abomination of the "Rural Estates" subdivision.

There is still plenty of land to fill in around Ryan Street and north of Berry Mills Road, as well as in the Magnetic Hill area and around Gorge Road north of the TCH.

Also, I think there has been a momentum shift in the last 18 months or so towards development in the Moncton East/Harrisville area. Just look at how active the Moncton East thread has been on SSP here, there are more posts in the Moncton East thread than in the Dieppe thread!!

Probably for the best. The city is starting to look a little lopsided.
