What is building next to it? Is that Phase 2 or the other project which is slated to be rentals geared towards Carleton students??

A friend and I went for lunch yesterday afternoon at Pub Italia, and then decided to walk over to the show centre and take photos.

SOHO at night

I wanted to post this well after DEFISHEL's shot (everyone needs air) but comments are pretty quiet.

SOHO is doing a sales promo to sell the last of the 28 units (out of 200) - aside from raising the co-broke payout to 4%,
- $10,000 down
- Up to $50,000 cash back on closing
- no condo fees for 1 year
- quick occupancy
- ends oct 1st.

Progress photo Oct 1

Aside from the new blindy light the interesting thing lately is the realization that Claridge Icon will be twice the height as seen from this vantage point.

It's a shame the Champagne is such a beautiful building next to that monstrosity going up next to it.

At least there are no ugly balconies to look at.

Icon 2x taller than that? That's going to be insane for Ottawa...

I walk by Champagne often with my dog, and I fail to see why people marvel at that building. Yes its nicer than the student tower being built beside it, but it doesn't have any wow factor at all. Ottawa needs towers with more curves and shapes instead of the typical rectangular box towers.

This one has a curve. It's on the north side.
But I get what you mean. At least Claridge Icon and Sky will have lots of curves; and Cathedral Hill has some.

I drove by here last weekend and was surprised at how fast that second building went up beside the Champagne. I swear it popped up outta nowhere!

Too bad they positioned it at a perfect 90' angle from the Champagne -- makes it look really blocky...

I sure hope the buyers on the north side of Champagne knew what to expect... man would I ever be pi**ed....

Is there any truth to the statement that a 2nd "student tower" is planned for that site? or was that just someone making silly....

There is a second tower, Capital Hall that is two stories shorter, but it's supposed to be condos, not specifically for students.

The second building (Envie) is a condo for investors, but is fully targeted at students. One-third sold already, apparently. It's supposed to be ready by Spring 2018.

Thanks... not quite sure how I didn't put 2+2 together there...
